About the adventure
Step into a high-fantasy saga where worlds collide, planes fracture, and cosmic powers move unseen across the Astral Sea. The Lich-Queen’s Begotten is a short, intense campaign of 5–10+ sessions where your characters are pulled into a multiversal plot far bigger than themselves. Mind flayers, githyanki, nautiloids, astral horrors, undead tyrants, and secrets older than the planes themselves stand between you and survival. You will travel across strange realms, confront impossible choices, and discover what role you play in the Lich-Queen’s final gambit. The tone of the campaign adapts to your group. It can be dark and grim, inspired by Stranger Things, The Witcher, or the haunting tension of Annihilation. It can be epic and heroic, evoking the spirit of Lord of the Rings, Vox Machina, Baldur’s Gate 3, or Arcane, with soaring stakes and cinematic action. Or it can lean into a light-hearted, witty adventure, with the chaotic humor of Acquisitions Incorporated, Guardians of the Galaxy, or The Legend of Vox Machina at its most playful. Whatever tone you choose, the story remains rich, character-driven, and full of incredible discoveries. Your heroes may begin as ordinary adventurers, but the Astral Plane has a way of reshaping those who step into its silver void. You will board living nautiloid vessels, speak with beings made of thought, cross the ruins of forgotten gods, and uncover the truth behind the Lich-Queen’s decaying power. She seeks a new vessel—one grown in secret, one that could restore her strength or unleash something far worse across every world. The question is not only how you will stop her, but whether the vessel should be destroyed at all. Its purpose may challenge your morals, your loyalties, and even your sense of self. This campaign is perfect for players who enjoy exploration, dramatic character moments, moral dilemmas, and a blend of cosmic fantasy and weird planar science-fiction. Combat, roleplay, investigation, and improvisation all have their place here. Whether you are veterans of multiversal travel or stepping into planar chaos for the first time, you will find a world ready to react to your choices and shape itself around your story. If you’re ready to face an ascendant tyrant, navigate the dangers of the Astral Sea, and decide the fate of a being that could save or doom the multiverse… then welcome to The Lich-Queen’s Begotten.

About me
Hello! I'm DM Mat, a game master with over 35 years of experience behind the screen. I started with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and have played through every era up to D&D 5e 2024. Over the decades I’ve run countless stories across many worlds — from grim mysteries to wild planar adventures to hilarious improv-driven chaos. I really enjoy a wide cast of pro DMs, but Chris Perkins and Acquisitions Incorporated stand out to me: energetic, improvisational, character-driven, and always adapted to the tone of the table. Sessions can be serious, heroic, comedic, dark, or a mix — whatever brings out the most fun for the group. I run one-shots, long campaigns, play-by-post games, sandbox explorations, West Marches, and reimagined official modules like Curse of Strahd, Storm King’s Thunder, Tomb of Annihilation, Descent into Avernus, Rise of the Runelords, Kingmaker, and Age of Worms. I also love Eberron, Planescape, Faerûn, and fully homebrew worlds. I mostly run games in French or English as suits the current party. In my games, both newcomers and seasoned heroes are equally welcome. I can also run games for your group or a private event — just inquire, we acquire. Above all, my tables are respectful, collaborative, and focused on shared enjoyment. If you love exploration, memorable characters, surprising twists, and a relaxed but immersive atmosphere, I’d be happy to welcome you to the adventure.

Creating your character
We’ll be using the core Daggerheart book, and characters will start at 5th level to match the epic, planar scope of this adventure. You can build your character in Demiplane Nexus (I can share the book with you there), and once you’re finished, I’ll transfer it into FoundryVTT. Note that the Nexus sheet won’t remain linked to Foundry, but that’s totally fine — once it’s imported, we’ll only use the Foundry version. Once there are enough players to start the game, if everyone agrees, we could create characters together in session 1 if chosen so. I will set up a Discord channel for the game, where we can discuss character ideas, tone, and any mechanical questions. You’re welcome to DM me directly on Discord if you want help refining your concept or connecting it to the campaign’s themes. We won’t have a full Session 0, but the first part of Session 1 will cover tone, setting, safety tools, expectations, and party cohesion. Once everyone feels comfortable and excited, we’ll jump straight into the adventure!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord account for between session communications, and for Voice in session. The game will be run on Foundry VTT, you would need a tablet or desktop for best experience, running Foundry on a mobile is not recommended. If you have a Demiplane - Nexus account, then I can share you the Daggerheart book should you need it.
What DM Mat brings to the table
This short Campaign is mostly Theater of the Mind, with imagery to open your imagination. I sometimes use music and ambiant sounds, but from my experience, many players just turn it off on their side as it is often a distraction.
Homebrew rules
We will start pretty vanilla.

How DM Mat creates a safe table
In session 1 (0) we will go over the safety tools we use and explain how to use each one. We will go throught Lines and Veils for everyone, then in each session, breaks, safety cards and Stars + Wishes will be used. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected, no exception.
