About the adventure
This setting and by extension the whole game itself is quite dark (pun intended.) The world of Darksun is one without gods, magic or hope. A world that had forsaken itself long ago and destroyed almost everything in itself. The aim of the players would be navigate the ruins of what’s left of the world. There are a handful of city states that remain as the only real bastions of civilization. But most of these cities are run by tyrants and mad men that would sooner enslave you to worship them as a god and toil away in the desert mines until your death or have you killed for sport to garner entertainment for the masses. The players would be survivors, most of them survivors of slavery or attempts on their lives. The races and classes that are available will of course be adjusted to the constraints of the setting based on previous modules of this setting. For example Paladins and Clerics are directly stated to be things of the past in this world. However an order of Templars have been made to serve Sorcerer Kings, tyrants of the city states that hold a majority of the arcane power left in the world. They’re a mix between a Paladin, Cleric and Warlock. Every magic caster class has been reworked and adjusted to fit the new setting with a plethora of changes and new content. The game also highlights center stage the long underutilized power of Psionics and returns it to one of the forefronts of useful abilities. With all of these class reworks, new Feats, Subclasses, Races and more: Players will be able to embark on a journey to bring hope back to a dying world that despite all its faults, has not forgotten about the hero’s of it’s past.

About me
I’d say above all else I’m passionate to no end about being a GM and I never thought I would find myself here. Truth be told if it weren’t for Table Top games I don’t think I’d be here right now. It was some online friends that introduced me during a very dark time in my life. And after giving playing and then GMing a shot, I realized I can give this thing my all, pouring my heart and soul into the matter. It literally saved my life and seeing the joy I could bring others, the stories I could tell, the envelopes I could push; I wanted nothing more than to absorb myself into this medium and become a true Game Master.

Creating your character
Characters will start at 3rd Level. We will be using DnD 5e Wikidot as a helpful resource for character building. I will work with each player individually as there are numerous house rules to go over as well as the conversions made to port this setting and its concepts into 5th Edition DnD. Players will have their choice of rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest for each stat, taking Standard Array or using Point Buy. If you opt to roll, you are barred from Point Buy, however if you roll poorly you may opt into Standard Array to bail yourself out. All players will roll for HitPoints after 1st Level, but if you roll below average, you automatically take average on your Hit Die as a guarantee for all players. Players will choose from unique backgrounds to this setting or professional ones from the Players Handbook. Every player gets a Feat at Level 1 that they are able to choose. Some races and backgrounds in this setting may provide their own Feats which do not count against the Free Feat afforded to all players at Level 1. There will be a special mechanic for those who choose to play a caster as this setting has 2 ways of handling the consequences of Arcane Spellcasting. Players will be afforded special Honebrewed Features and/or Abilities that will be designed mutually between themselves and I. This will be to not only offset the rampant difficulty of this campaign but also to be inline with their characters story, convictions, desired power sets and otherwise motif or vibes. The level ups may slow down as time goes on however free Feats and other rewards will be in their place to keep the momentum of growth going. Above all else, I will be working closely before during and after the campaigns beginning to develop a multilayered and ever evolving backstory for each players character that will shape the future of the game for them.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
There will be a discord server I will have made and a link will be provided to. Roll 20 will be the VTT used for this game which is a free website to use, you need only an email to make an account. Further assistance and guidance on my part will be given on providing a link to the games Roll 20 lobby and how to use the sheets inside of it if you’re unfamiliar.
What Anthony Kartalyan brings to the table
I am very fluid with my style. I do like to provide ambiance and dynamic music for climatic encounters. I utilize maps for dynamic combat and token art I source to make the world and its inhabitants feel real. I do my best with voices and vocal performances as my world and its characters are my pride and joy to depict. I have my own way of doing things which generally lean on the “Rule of Cool” while also establishing a foundational way of doing things when it comes to gameplay mechanics or elements.
Homebrew rules
I do allow for what I call Quick or Consumable Slots. Basically items such as scrolls and potions can be used as a Bonus Action so long as they have one within this special Inventory Slot everyone has at least 2 of to start. I allow spell casters to be taught spells and learn them from various sources and from other caster spell lists under the right circumstances. I allow for creation of custom Lineages or the use of other Homebrew content or Unearthed Arcana so long as the player runs it by me first. I add additional consequences for critical failures and successes. I use the Honor and Sanity mechanics. Players may incur permanent injures from devastating attacks or repeatedly going down or even being brought back from the dead multiple times. Items may be broken on repeated use or critical failures. Milestone leveled system, never XP Free Feats and Abilities are crafted and handed out in place of Level Up’s at times. A few more things I’m not thinking of off tops but I can get into in game ;)

Safety
How Anthony Kartalyan creates a safe table
I have a strict fade to black, pause or skip policy when it comes to any behavior or content that is agreed upon prior to sessions. If anything arises mid session that wasn’t covered we will stop the moment a player is in distress and have a break as well as a moment to debrief and decide if they wish to continue. I will provide moments of Aftercare during breaks and after sessions in case things have gotten intense in any way. Players can always message me privately before during and after sessions with any concerns regarding campaign content or other player behavior.
