About the adventure

In a world that is a mirror of our own but with humans living alongside the creatures of fantasy, the natural course of history has been changed by the presence of magical and psionic leaders in our society. It's not perfect in every way, but the world is at peace and most needs are taken care of. People want for little and poverty is a thing of the past. Despite the prosperity of the present, there have been dissenters among the masses - those that believe the lack of struggle is not only a stagnation of living but that it is a falsehood at its root. To them, even in a world of might and magic it seems quite fantastical that everyone gets a slice of the pie. While at first these ideas seemed conspiratorial, something has changed in recent years. The whispers of the "Lie of Prosperity" are getting louder and louder each day, carrying more voices and stories of those who have seen "beyond the veil." You've seen the signs too - whether they were right in front of you all along or if they suddenly became apparent in a way you couldn't forget - and people are acting different around you. Staring. Watching. Waiting for something. The world might be perfect, but...perfect for who?

About me

Since I started playing tabletops I've loved all the joy it brings people at a table. It's like going through a fantastical novel with a group of like-minded lovers of adventure! I've been GM-ing for about 10 years, and every session is worth the memorable experiences that I hope both I and my players receive.

Character creation

Creating your character

This campaign is in the style of Wuxia/Xianxia - that is, a more fantastical interpretation of the modern world with eastern fantasy principles and the possibility of the magical and divine. In simpler terms, this is the type of game where a character brings a sword to a gunfight and still wins. Those who do bring guns can use ricochet to make one bullet count for a hundred. "People" can fight with the tenacity of dragons, leaping distances analogous to flight and breathing searing flames either due to divine intervention or abilities tempered over a lifetime - or several if they find a way to live them. Be the martial artist of a thousand punches - take a strong drink of ale and belch fire like a hellhound - let the spirits guide your will, your blade or both to be the best version of yourself or to become something better entirely. We will work together in a (free) session 0 to see how the characters will come together and interact - and perhaps help with character creation and world lore as necessary.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Ask for Discord Link on approval, or friend "theginge42" to ask there. We'll also have a Foundry server set up by the time we start having sessions

What William brings to the table

I try to provide everything I would want from the other side of the table; I like a balanced experience with a bit of everything. Tactical combat, interesting characters, a living world to be a part of...I love it all and I want to provide everything I can to my players. Aside from what I hope for, I can provide music, a virtual tabletop for tactical situations, and the best of my narrative skill to make a story worth being a part of.

Homebrew rules

-If there is a feature you get no use out of (as in it hasn't benefited you at all) and you could have chosen something else, you can swap it out at the end of the session for a different choice.

Safety

How William creates a safe table

We're all coming to the table to have a good time, and part of that is an open narrative about what people want and don't want to see. I make it clear that the door is open both in terms of discussion and your ability to leave for any reason, whether it be a personal emergency or otherwise. Life comes first and I'm sure I'll say it many times but we're all here for fun.
