About the adventure
Deadly Secrets is an original campaign setting which centres around character stories, fluid combat, and non-linear adventures. It is open to both beginners and veterans alike and focuses on the three pillars of gameplay: Roleplay, Exploration and Combat. Although Roleplay will be a particular emphasis, and players who favour this playstyle will find much to enjoy, the other two pillars, combat and exploration, will see the spotlight regularly, as this campaign aims to cover all bases. Daggerheart is not only an incidental choice of system but quite intentional, as the freedom and creative tools granted by the game system will be on display throughout the campaign, and players will be encouraged to pick them up and dust them off, even if it is their first time in a TTRPG. This is a collaborative storytelling project, so the players will be able to contribute to the lore of the world, create NPCs, choose adventure hooks, and much more. Though this does not mean they will be left to do all the work. The setting will begin with plenty of interesting concepts and fantastical elements that the players can jump off from. For example, the campaign starts in Veil, the only city left on a world of almost eternal darkness. This dark reality also means the citizens of Veil spend the bulk of their time in the shadows and have adapted, building their settlements and societies around this dark reality. Societies and settlements that the players will be able to breathe life into and fine-tune over many play sessions. As well as a clear setting, the story also begins with an enticing story hook: the players have been brought together under the manipulative forces of an unknown party, who, through forces we don't yet know, has learnt a deadly secret about each player character, a secret so damaging that each member of the party would rather die than let the truth get out. The patron blackmails the party into furthering his goals. It is up to them to get out from under this manipulation without letting their secrets be revealed. How they do that is up to them, and I am looking forward to seeing you try, should you choose to join in the Deadly Secrets Daggerheart Campaign. Long story short, if you like awesome fantasy locations, immersive character moments, and fluid combat on a VTT, book your chair now and let's start crafting your character together.

About me
Ever since I was a child, I‘ve always liked acting, making up stories, and playing make-believe. I attended drama classes and got cast in school plays. The usual. Eventually, I grew up and took this love of the arts all the way to university, where I studied, you guessed it, Drama. It was also there that I discovered a little game called DnD, a game which combined my love of games and acting into one truly intoxicating pastime. I played a frightened warrior, a tone deaf bard, and many more intriguing characters. At one point, I had no GM to run games for me, so I tried the GM hat on for size and realised, after much fine-tuning, that I loved making the games more than I loved playing them. Suddenly, I could not only play one character, but a whole world. I loved providing my friends with eccentric characters to converse with and thrilling situations to work through, and so my time as a forever GM began. And it has continued till this very day. As well as playing DnD and other TTRPGs, I also study script writing and linguistics. I love studying complex systems like grammar and story structure. By day, I am actually an English teacher, so I spend most days talking to people all over the world, explaining difficult grammar to them with patience and enthusiasm, a skill I’m sure I picked up from somewhere(:

Creating your character
Since it is free for anyone to create a Daggerheart character through demiplane, I recommend that the players make one on there. It is very easy to use, and they will be able to use the sheet during our game. We will be using Foundry to play some combat encounters, though, so they will have to transfer their characters there manually. But we will figure that out in the free session 0 that we do before we start playing properly. The Foundry module is also extremely intuitive, so there is no cause to fret. Any problems will be ironed out in session 0.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The only accounts you will need are the following: Discord Startplaying Demiplane (optional) We will mainly be using Foundry via the Forge VTT hosting service, so players will need a Forge account to enter the game. But those are free, so no need to worry.
What GM Arron brings to the table
In my games, I use music and lights to conjure some ambience. I also use a lot of different voices for the NPCs. Daggerheart is a collaborative game, and players are encouraged to add their own contributions to the setting. However, I will be providing a full setting to inspire them. I will also provide tactical maps for larger battles through Foundry, using the Daggerheart system, which provides all the tools needed to play the game. Players will be able to do everything they want to on Foundry.

Safety
How GM Arron creates a safe table
Safety and a comforting, encouraging vibe are very important to me when I am GMing. To achieve this, we will use a suite of safety tools, such as Lines and Veils, XCards, Breaks, an Open Door policy and whatever the players need to feel secure. I am very aware of how easy it is to spoil someone's game, be it unintentionally or otherwise, so making sure that all my players respect each other and that no player ever has to encounter material or themes they don't want to is an obligation that I take very seriously.
