About the adventure
Inked within the pages which line the Queen of the Dead's endless stacks are the names of those whose life stories' sing like the bardic epics of old Sarlona. Here, carefully filed away between faeic limericks and the ravings of those fortunate enough to behold the fractals of infinite Xoriat, are the tales of mortal heroes whose feats stand head and shoulders atop their brethren. Biographies of geniuses wielding unparalleled intellect fill reams of paper, saga poems proclaiming the deeds of mighty warriors splash pages like an enemy's blood. Here, amongst the dust and dark and silence, one being's name bears singular, violent infamy - Strahd von Zarovich. Karrnath - a powerful nation of imperial politics and loyal undead legions, stands upon the dawning of a new era of peace. As the continent of Khorvaire reels from a century of total warfare, the proud and militaristic Karrnathi face the olive branch of Eberron's four most powerful nations with disgust. The year is 998 YK - the Treaty of Thronehold has "neutered" the nation of Karrnath, forcing it into a peaceful coexistence with those other Khorvarian nations. Now the people of Karrnath speak openly about their Queen's failure, hoping the blood-drench monster of their nation's fabled past would return to lead them. They have received no reply. You find yourselves on a snowy road leading east from Irontown, a backwater miner's village at Karrnath's eastern frontier. With a note delivered to you by a mysterious benefactor known only as I.S. stuck fast in your pocket you trek a path towards your newest purpose: find the hidden barony of Barovia - fabeled domain of the bloodsucking queen Strahd von Zarovich - locate its legendary sovereign, and do what you must to convince her of Karrnath's need for a true ruler. Succeed and bring Karrnath to new heights atop the pile of Khorvairian filth. Fail and perish, forgotten, in the mists of Strahd's demesne. Good luck, heroes. --- Curse of Strahd: Tatyana's Quest is a 3rd to 11th+ level D&D 5E adventure placed in the Eberron adventuring setting. Combining elements of queer romances, southern gothic horror, and page-turning noir mysteries, Barovia is reborn with new lore, new NPCs, and a new Strahd whose purpose threatens Eberron itself. This campaign will see our players enter the plight stricken barony of old Barovia to search for its legendary sovereign; however, you will not undertake this bleak endeavor alone. Along with you, up to five other player characters and a cast of helpful (and deadly) NPCs will aid to drive your personal story forward in this role play-heavy campaign as you seek to bring darkness to a brightening world or end that darkness forever. Choices of consequential value weigh heavy upon your souls adventurers in this world of gray, and only you can uncover the mysteries locked behind the potent mists of Strahd's horrific demesne.

About me
Hey y'all, I'm Penny your Southern gothic trans femme DM! She/her 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ I'm an Eberron and Athasian enthusiast who has been running tabletop adventures, creating new worlds, and telling stories for parties of all sizes for over the last two decades. I prioritize community, safety, and party cooperation in my campaigns - no one person may save the world (or destroy it) on their own. Bringing unique, individual character stories together, melding those with memorable NPC companions, and creating dynamic challenges both in and out of initiative is all part of my recipe to deliver a campaign the party will recall for years onward. I've ran sessions for new and veteran players alike; in fact, many of my StartPlaying campaigns have been joined by players starting off on their very first TTRPG adventures. Be you old or new to the wider TTRPG universe, you have a friendly table waiting for you here to teach you all you'll need to know or maybe just polish up those old roleplaying skills. While I am a roleplaying Dungeon Master first an foremost, I do also employ a bit of "shiny" distraction in the way of high-production battle encounters and role-playing scenes. From vibrant battle maps and combat animations to dynamic lighting, sounds, and music, to fully automated character sheets that roll your dice with a single click, you can be assured you'll be immersed in the scene and not thinking about all the numbers all from behind your monitor. Thank you for checking out my profile. I hope to meet you at the table soon! Happy roleplaying!

Creating your character
You will begin this adventure at Level 3. Please use the Character Creation Document (provided to you upon joining the game); it should hopefully answer most character creation questions. There will be a DNDBeyond Campaign Link for these new character sheets to be built in. You do not need to own anything in DNDBeyond; I own all of the content we will use for this session, and it will be shared with you. We can discuss character stories, themes, etc. before the session and during Session Zero. If you have any questions the guide does not answer, please feel free to DM me to discuss.
Step beyond the Mists and into a land long forgotten; don't forget though, the Baroness is always watching. Join us in Barovia every Sunday morning @ 10:00 AM EST for a tale of gothic horror, sapphic romance, and monsters aplenty. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚔️Our party is 3rd level, using 2024 5th Edition rules. They include: - Warforged Arcane Trickster Rogue - Tiefling College of Lore Bard - Human Archfey Patron Warlock - Warforged Abberant Sorcery Sorcerer - Half-Orc Oath of Redemption Paladin

~ DM's Note on Content Warnings ~ The list of possible triggers/content warnings below is a list of things that may or may not appear in this campaign. It is likely many of these will not appear, but I want everyone to be prepared. I take my player's mental health and safety very seriously, so if anything (on or off the list) is an explicit trigger for you, I'm happy to talk with you and be sure those subjects are handled however best suits you.
