About the adventure

Less than 25 survivors. You are one of them. The course was set for the western continent where opportunity dwells, but halfway there your ship was beset by a terrible storm. In the chaos, many of the crew were killed and the ship was wrecked upon a remote island of dense jungle. Now, you have no choice but to find shelter and survive long enough to find some hope of escape. Can you and your community survive on this hostile island where spirits & monsters roam and the corpse of an ancient city of magic sits rotting? This adventure is about regular people banding together to weather impossible times. You and your companions will become the glue that holds your community together and protects it from the worst of this world. This listing is for the self-contained story of the survivors of a shipwreck finding safety and stability on the island, but there is more story beyond that! If after the conclusion of this 6-10 session adventure we have a cohesive group, then the story can grow to be an expansive multi-year campaign in which your group will find themselves in just the right place to save the world from utter catastrophe. No experience with Legend in the Mist is required to join this campaign! But experience with roleplaying is recommended to have the most fun at this table.

About me

Hiya! I'm Sevynn (pronounced just like the number) and I'm super excited to run games for everyone! I AM: - A neurodivergent, queer woman - A bit of a mountain hippy (I love love) - A professional improviser (I cannot resist committing to the bit) - A game designer (catch me staring intensly at a spreadsheet full of probabilities) - A chaos goblin (mischief is guaranteed) - A Game Master since 2018 (multiple multi-year campaigns!) I VALUE: - Safety, Inclusion, and Diversity. Everyone should feel welcome at my table - Collaboration. Stories are better when we make them together - Depth. Lets really dig into what makes a world/character/story tick - Tone. It is the foundation of storytelling that all other elements are built on - Empathy. It is the basis of my whole life philosophy - Ambition. I love to push the boundaries of what's possible in this art form - Moral Complexity. Every world is much richer when all sides of a problem are imagined with complexity - Silliness and Joy. At the end of the day, we're here to have fun! I AM INSPIRED BY (no particular order): - Video Games: Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Magicka, Monaco - Books: Children of Earth and Sky, The Kingkiller Chronicles, The Hobbit - Webcomics: Problem Sleuth, Prequel Adventure - Movies/TV: Studio Ghibli, 9, Puss & Boots: The Last Wish, Arcane - TTRPG Systems: The Wildsea, Triangle Agency, Roll for Shoes - Actual Plays: Worlds Beyond Number, Dimension 20 - Podcasts: The Magnus Archives

Character creation

Creating your character

I like to spend an hour before the first session with each player to build a character that will really fit into the world and the tone of the story. In that time we will: - Craft your themebooks - Build out your backstory - Figure out who you know on the voyage and why you were there - Roleplay through a few short vignettes of your time before the campaign for you to get a handle on your character before the first session For this campaign, I will have these restrictions on character choices: - At most 1 adventure level theme for each character. No greatness level themes. - All characters must be human - Magic will be rare and humble (although there will be opportunities to grow into great magic in the full campaign)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I ask that all players have working webcams and keep them on for the majority of each session. It is integral to the way I run the game to be able to see my players' body language and facial expressions. If that is not something you are comfortable with, then I completely understand, but my table is not a good fit for you. Beyond that, all you need is a discord account! When you sign up, you'll be given a link to the server in which I run my games and from there you will find the link to my Foundry VTT instance! If you haven't played LitM before, I will ask that you play through their wonderful introductory comic before our character creation call. It takes less than an hour and will give you a great baseline knowledge of the system that we can build upon together. Here's a link: https://sonofoak.com/pages/legend-in-the-mist-download

Safety

How Sevynn creates a safe table

Safety is VERY important to me. Before the session I will have individual discussions with each of my players to ensure I am aware of any known triggers and then share those triggers, anonymized, with all players at the table. During the session all of my players are encouraged to take breaks for any reason. During the session, we will use the Full Deck System through a Foundry plugin that allows for anonymity when desired. For more information on that system, see this PDF: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ALbEmRaTKpyfFuEoAxcEcDPfL7O2lPC8/view Additionally, I always schedule in a 15 minute break in the middle of each session and ask for players to stay around after the session for a debrief. That debrief is essential for building community within our group as well as giving me the feedback I need to course correct the campaign and ensure that it is a fun and safe adventure for everyone at the table.
