About the adventure

"We as Guard offer all that we are to protect the sanctity of our species, the freedom of our kin, and the honor of our ancestors. With knowledge, sword, and shield, we do these deeds, never putting a lone mouse above the needs of all, or the desire of self above another. We strive for no less than to serve the greatest good." - The Guard's Oath March boldly into the realm of David Peterson's comic book series, Mouse Guard! The Mouse Territories have been able to thrive, not merely survive, thanks to the Mouse Guard and their dutiful patrols. These brave soldiers, pathfinders, and scientists keep their fellow mice safe, ensure the roads are safe for travel, harass and drive off predators, and solve conflict as it arises. This is a fantastic beginner friendly game for those new to roleplaying or who might want an adventure from a new perspective but still want to experience the danger of staring down a big dragon (in this case an owl might be a suitable stand-in). If you are interested in signing up, try to gather a group together since a lot of the single sign ups tend to linger until things drift away into silence.

About me

Hello! I go by Fore in most circles and you can find me on @ontheforefronts in most places. Few years ago, I did plenty of tabletop roleplaying content on Twitch and soon after my job as a horse groom ate up so much more of my time and energy that I had to choose livelihood over this passion I have for the hobby. Now that I'm more rooted in my schedule and realizing there's some gains I can make from giving folks a profound and fun experience with the games I enjoy Game Mastering, I'd like to invite you to create your character, become immersed in a world of wonder, and make friends along the way. Most of my ttrpg teeth was sharpened on Mouse Guard, a roleplaying game where players take on the role of mice who's duty is the protection of their fellow tiny fuzzy folks in a world that towers above them, and I still carry the principles of that game with me. Player characters are encouraged to fight for what they believe in and I as the Game Master ensure that not only are they challenged on these ideals they seek to embody, but reward them for proving themselves worthy or discovering a new belief to grow into. This is how a character focused story operates and I hope to make every campaign I run a story you'll want to pester people at DragonCon about. To be sure I'll be running D&D 5e and perhaps a handful of other games I'd really love to play! On that note there'll be a handful of house rules and rule of fun for the most part. Mostly all supplements are good but be aware that I'm just a gay boy trying to have fun and share that fun with a cool story we can all enjoy. I'll bring the smack down when encounters and conflicts call for it but I've run whole sessions with just snack scenes. Snack scenes are moments and scenes players just DO because they love their characters and the other imaginary people we roleplay that much. Also, um, I'm a he/him homosexual lover of games (Warframe, Runescape, & Evil Dead The Game), books (Will Wight's Cradle series is my #1), and using my pursuit of tracking US war crimes abroad and the struggle against fascism as handy tools in my campaigns for you to defy and dethrone. Also also, I'm a follower of The Satanic Temple and of their Seven Tenets. Generally, I'm aiming for Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to be my game days. Offering the homebrew campaign stuff to start but I've run Out of the Abyss MULTIPLE TIMES I LOVE IT and a few other homebrewed shenanigans. Character creation

Creating your character

Everyone will be creating new characters with the aid of a easy-to-use checklist / quiz to get started. Then they can be transferred over to a character sheet on whatever platform we decided to use. This session zero is free.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You should have a mic and access to the virtual tabletop we'll be using (not necessarily Tabletop Simulator). Push to talk is a nice way of cutting down on intrusive noise and such. You can either come to Session 0 with a character created or I can aid you in assembling the character sheet alongside you. Webcam not required nor physical but we all love the click-clack-tack they bring.

What Patrick 'Fore' brings to the table

Besides my own talents, I'll provide the details from the rulebook that you'll need to prosper in the game as well as maps from DysonLogos when we need a battle map or something to explore.

Homebrew rules

We may use optional conditions from Torchbearer depending on how often we get into the Conflict mechanics of Mouse Guard.

Safety

How Patrick 'Fore' creates a safe table

I've learned from Mouse Guard that there's an easy flow of play that I mainly adhere to; *Pre-amble & Checking in - Refresh ourselves on where our characters were, attend to any concerns about the game before continuing or interruptions that may pop in. *Game Start - Ice breaker roleplay content to get everyone in the swing of things and ease back into the story of the game. *GM's Turn - Pursue objectives, acquire advantages, deter evil-doers, engage the story in whatever fashion is suitable. *Player's Turn - Characters recover from their struggles, follow up on clues, indulge in snack scenes, and prepare for the next leg of their journey or pursue their own interests. *Repeat the GM's Turn and Player's turn until session end! *Game End - Rewards, concerns, what we're looking forward to next session, and maybe more snack scenes if we're still hungry for roleplay.
