About the adventure
Welcome to the world of Aeithalor - an unknown world of untold horrors and impossible possibilities! Once, you lived a fulfilling life on your homeworld. Maybe you were a librarian with psychic powers, or maybe you were hired as a starship engineer due to a mutation that allows you to survive in the void. Perhaps you were simply living a life with a family, surrounding you with happiness and love. All of that was ripped away from you in an instant. Now, you find yourselves in an alien realm with ever changing weather, time variances, terrifying beasts, and a host of myriad other problems to solve. You find others like you, some even from your homeworld; others, simply in the same shared nightmare as yourself. The reality is that you are stuck here now, and you must survive. Aeithalor is brought to you by the powerful Geste Engine - a series of layered mechanics, all of which are plug and play in nature. All of which allow you to play in a traditional face-to-face environment, a virtual table top, as a Solo player or even in a LARP setting! Right now, we are simply testing the traditional/VTT experience. And we are asking You to come join us! Yes, you saw a price for admission. But don't think of it as Haphazard Projects charging you at the front door; what we are offering to a very limited number of dedicated players a chance to help shape this new setting - every choice, every word, and every action you make in-game will forever shape the setting that we will release for the Core Rule Book. Found a Faction? We'll put it in the book! Create a new species for game play? We'll put that in the book! Create a new Archetype for others to play? We might just put it in the book! Craft new spells, powers and abilities? In the book it goes! Promote genocide upon one of the fictional native tribes? Well, that's mean, but it will go into the book, too. Sure. All funds go towards the initial push for artwork, graphic design, and publication for print-on-demand and PDF release. For right now, it is just me (the Project Manager and Lead Developer) and my old Army buddy Marc Vasquez (who will be our Lead in charge of Art Design). We will be powering through everything it takes to to make this game a success. What is our metric for success? Insuring that You, the players, enjoy an engaging world, adaptive mechanics, and a tremendous community that wants to promote the game and work alongside of Haphazard Projects. This is your chance to get on the ground floor of something huge. Why not give it a try? The first session is always free! After that, we know you will be hooked. Who should play the game: Solo and LARP fans Traditional gamers Those fond of the horror genre in general Those who love world building Grognards who miss "crunch" Newcomers to the hobby wanting to experience something different We have something for everyone. So visit Aeithalor. Find your Path. And Survive to tell the tale.

About me
Greetings and Salutations! I run a lot more games than are listed on my profile here, so if you don't see something, no worries: here is what I am currently running so you can look it up and join us! I am a professional game designer with nearly 40 years experience with myriad RPG systems. Warhammer was my first game, and it has been a passion of mine ever since. After that, I discovered TMNT & Other Strangeness, as well as the other Palladium Books RPGs they had out at the time (Ninjas & Superspies, Heroes Unlimited, Palladium Fantasy, et al). I also experimented with GURPS, Paranoia, various comic book RPGs including Marvel FASERIP, Shadowrun and quite a few others. All told, I have run at least 200 different RPGs between then and the intervening years up to these modern nights. For those in the know, I was heavily involved with the Camarilla, and when I lost interest playing with them, I wrote my own rules based off of Laws of the Wyld, and ran a Werewolf: the Apocalypse LARP for a goodly number of years. I miss my LARPing years with the vigour of an Adren Fianna or a Silver Fang Galliard. My last RPG design effort was The Aethyrblood Chronicles (TABC), a cosmic horror/supers game. I am now designing a system agnostic rules set using revised mechanics that I developed for TABC, I will be looking for official playtesters soon. Message me if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you, and together we will rule the universe with the power of the Dark Si.... well, together we can craft some most excellent stories. Let's wonder for a spell!

Creating your character
You will select an Origin: one of three homeworlds that will provide you with a number of unique species and Archetypes. Select your species and Archetype, and then spend some points to flesh out the character as you see fit. Then, those who share your Origin will have a Prelude, a very important step in your personal horror story experience. At the end, you will find yourself in the realm of Aeithalor. You will spend a number of points to prepare for the main game, as determined by the events in your shared Preludes. Finally! You'll experience the one-of-a-kind, persistent game world for you to help shape as you see fit! Explore the lands using the dynamic Geste Engine, with encounters created on the fly, dangers to overcome, discoveries to be made, rumours to overhear, and secrets to learn. What will you do to survive?
What to expect
Preparing for the session
First off, everyone interested should join my Discord server: Start Playing Now! Here is the link: https://discord.gg/7Zxw7FJSHX Be sure to read over the Server Rules and the Playtest Guidelines. By logging in to the server, you agree to these terms. If you don't like something you read, feel free to message me. If you'd rather not talk about it, feel free to quit while you are ahead. No harm, no foul. We are making regular posts on the #aeithalor-geste-engine Channel of the Discord server. Be sure to read all posts as you can make the time. Each post will clearly say when in the release order the article takes place. We are still figuring a lot of the behind the curtain stuff at the moment, so we aren't sure which VTT we will use (but we are heavily leaning towards Quest Portal). When we make the final decision, we will post a link on our Discord server. If you have any questions, just reach out and ask!
What Eiric E. Padráig brings to the table
What I bring is almost 40 years of total game experience with literally hundreds of TTRPGs played within that span. I will have maps, realistic NPCs, created languages and unique economic systems for a plausible reality; voices and dialects, with fostered mannerisms and tonality for this unknown world. Original music and sound effects for total immersion. Plus, every character will receive in-game story hooks as soon as they enter the live game environment. No exceptions. So you'll instantly have reasons to engage the strange characters you will for sure come into contact with. Of course, by definition, this will be a Rules as Written (RAW) game, but I fully expect players to embrace the Rule of Cool and experiment with the rules you are provided. Nay, I encourage it! We will be using tactical and theatre of the mind game play, dependent upon the needs of the narrative.
Homebrew rules
We might include the use of new or tooled-with rules throughout the game we play. We might have resets. I might ask you to play a different character at certain points of the game. There are built-in mechanics to help you switch characters with ease. Let's remember - this is work for me. Fun work, but work nonetheless. Help me, and I promise you'll have a great time!

How Eiric E. Padráig creates a safe table
We will discuss safety tools prior to your entry into the live game environment. We will take breaks at the half way point for three and four hour sessions, and when we host six hour sessions, we will take breaks every two hours. You don't have to take a break if you don't want to. I certainly will be adjusting my notes during these breaks, so feel free to stick around and talk shop. And a friendly reminder, this is an intense horror game experience; do not sign up for this game unless you are comfortable confronting everything on the Content Warnings list. I mean it; go back and reread it right now. I will not be responsible if you get uncomfortable, but we will ease up immediately if we cross a line somewhere. My goal is not to freak people out - it is to ensure we all have a fun time in a safe environment. Read the Content Warnings again. Last warning. There is a hard "21 and Over" policy for this game. Yes, it says 18+, but we are not going to let anyone under the age of 21 play in this game. No exceptions. Go back and read the Content Warning again. We will have a plethora of Safety Tools to ensure we all stay comfortable with this experience. Make sure you review the list. If you have any questions, please contact me before signing up. I will avail myself whenever possible. I do not use Stars and Wishes as the are described, but I have something very similar I like to use called "Rose + Bud + Thorn" - each player may say one thing they enjoyed, one thing they are looking forward to, and one thing they did not care for. Using this system allows me to fine-tune the experience for everyone. I cannot cover everything in this write up that Start Playing asks us. Their list is too finite. So if something went unmentioned, please contact me prior to signing up to any events. I appreciate your interests in the game! I do! And I invite you to contact me with any questions you have about the game's format, presentations, rules, languages, symbology, in-game religions, the native tribes of Aeithalor, and so on. And I mean it! Let's roll some dice and enjoy ourselves!
