About the adventure
This game can be played by beginners, but is best if you have some familiarity with RPGS and/or anime. It's a Miyazakish tale of nature vs civilization, with neither being evil, and finding resolution to a problem no one caused. Our game encourages cooperation, working together, and a lot of adventure and many of these birbs are hungry and not friendly until you give them a reason to. It's a group of friends braving a dangerous new reality but heart, pluck and imagination gives the players an edge, and so does the baby dragon the group creates during session 0 together (along with the characters). Genre wise it's a cross between natural and high fantasy with soaring skies and woodsy exploration a constant reminder that when its all done they will be able the characters will go back to their village heroes, or maybe having a new birb friend or two.

About me
I've been running and playing games for 35+ years, and prefer cinematic and fun stories versus full on combat focus and playing RAW. I started with games like Toon and Teennage Mutant turtle and Tunnels & Trolls, moved to GURPS, Earthdawn, Legend of the Five Rings, and 7th Sea in the 90's and up to mid 00's, and then Savage Worlds, FATE, and Indie RPGS after that. You will see cats in the background if I have my camera on! They have only knocked my laptop to the ground in a single game. Can you make my cat do it again? I like to make sure everyone gets a chance for the spotlight and to focus on the things they want their character engaged in. the games I run are co-op. not PVP as the fun you are having should not take away from the enjoyment of others. I see my job both as to weave the world around the characters actions which drive where the action goes. I love a good long campaign with a lot of character progression, but I also enjoy zany one shots where what happens after this one story does not matter. I really like having the NPCs having their own lives and personalities, and breathing life into them. a specialty of mine is often creating deep and distinct NPC's in a moments notice. I am more of a lenient GM than a strict one, and for the games that it fit's the scenario and world, making sure everyone has a pun-derful time. I don't like PVP combat, and will make that expectation known upfront. I am very new player friendly.

Creating your character
We will have a session 0, where we all create our characters together on discord, our dragon and hometown together. You will start at level 1, and will level at the end of each adventure. Any type of player character from the main book works.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord login, and I highly recommend going to https://kotohi.com/ to familiarize yourself with the game or buy the book or pdf before play to understand the game and how it's played.
What Emily brings to the table
I will be weaving a cozy but adventurous game for us with a combination of immersive NPCs (with their own voices and personalities), art during play, a quick improvised playstyle but a persistent world where all the background characters have theri own goals and may be pursuing them when you are not around them. I focus on making sure we include the themes and play style each one the players want, but no players vs player combat. It will be a world where solving a problem with empathy and imagination is better than meeting each conflict with a battle.
Homebrew rules
You will level at the end of every session of play. Also there is no permanent death, when the normal rules call for death you are either out for a scene or two, or can be resurrected if that is player choice.

How Emily creates a safe table
We will figure out our lines (topic we don't touch during game at all) and veils (subjects that are mentioned off screen but not "on screen" past a mention) together in session 0. At any point during the game you want a topic stopped or changed you can contact me through DM or just say something in the session if you wish.
