About the adventure
The Age of Rome is over. The Empire that once conquered the entire world collapsed a generation ago, and now the seers speak of a dark age that looms over the land. Some even believe the end times draw near. Thus, heroes are needed to prevent the world’s ending. Those who still cling to the old world do all they can to maintain power. Emperors and Kings wage their holy wars and bring nothing but chaos and ill omens. To the north, giants invade the land called Midgard and a one-eyed warlord rallies an army against them. In the far east, stories claim that six kingdoms wage a civil war for control of those strange unknown lands. To the south, the Moorish peoples reclaim their power after centuries of enslavement and fight one another for control. The world struggles to rebuild in this these uncertain times. But in the isle of Britain, after the death of High King Uther Pendragon and his infant son and heir, years of anarchy allowed the Saxons to further encroach on the lands of the Britons. The druid known as Merlin placed a sword inside an anvil in the city of Londinium and gave a prophecy proclaiming that a new king would be found when whosoever was worthy to rule would pull the sword from the stone.

About me
Hello! Welcome all brave adventurers and weary travelers who have stumbled upon this page. My name is August (he/him) a humble DM who graciously invites you to join me for a few hours of entertainment and escapism as I present my worlds and stories for you to enjoy! I have been playing Tabletop RPGs for well over a decade and in that time I have found it to be the most wonderful and rewarding experience. As a DM, I have learned it is the very best way for me to convey my ideas and creations with the hope that it can inspire others, even if it's just in small little ways, if my stories help make a positive impact on someone, that means the absolute world to me. I may not be a perfect DM when it comes to remembering all the rules, but having fun is the most important rule at my table, so if my players are happy then I am happy! If you choose to try out a game with me, I can promise you rich and memorable experiences, a safe and comfortable environment, and endless stories you'll want to share with your friends that will have you coming back for more! I do hope you consider me in your gaming experience and if you do, I will welcome you with open arms and we will go on a epic journey together! The road goes ever on and on...

Creating your character
Races Available • Changeling • Dhampir • Goliath • Half-Elf • Human Classes will be determined by the source material Masters of the Mundane, which will be provided. (Mutant is not allowed) Players who wish for their Character to be a practitioner in magic may consult with the DM on gaining the Magic Initiate feat and gaining more spells throughout the campaign. This game will be a generational campaign. Players may transition to playing squires and heirs if their current Character is killed or retired. The campaign will take place over the course of several decades. The game will be structured into Campaign Phases where an adventure will take place followed by Downtime which will last until the end of a full year of in-game time. Players will level up at the end of each downtime phase.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need access to Discord where we will meet to play. They will also need access to a Roll20 account where we will roll dice and engage in combat with online battle maps.
What August brings to the table
As the DM, I will provide music, ambience, imaginative storytelling, opportunities for roleplay and character growth, and any available resources to ensure players have all they need to have a great experience. This is your story, I am merely here to provide you with the world to explore and the right tools in order to succeed. (Or fail if the dice wish to tell their own story!)
Homebrew rules
• Low Magic (Available Spells List will be provided) Characters with spells may cast them at any time, but excessive use of magic can incur penalties such as exhaustion or madness. (Consult the madness table from the DMG) • Epic Level 6 Upon reaching the cap of Level 6, players will be given the option for further advancement through feats, higher level spells, and for some, their level 7 class feature. When a character is replaced, the player will return to an earlier level with added bonuses based on the training given to them through their previous character. • Private Death Saves When rolling Death Saving Throws, players will whisper their results to the DM. In order for another character to learn your current status, they must roll a successful Medicine check. • Realistic Lifespans At the end of each downtime phase, characters will roll a percentile die to determine if they will survive into the next year or not. Modifiers will be added or reduced depending on external factors like health, lifestyle, and lingering injuries. If a player rolls below their characters current age, they will become bedridden. The player will then roll another percentile die that can be assisted by other characters, and if the player again rolls beneath their current age, the character will succumb to illness or old age, and die. • Language Rules At session 0, if you are not a Scholar, you will roll to see if your character is illiterate. You will roll a d20+Int. DC 10. If you fail but still have multiple languages known, you will know how to speak but not read or write with them. Downtime training is required to learn how to read. All of these variant rules found in the Dungeon Master's Guide will be included: • Gritty Realism • Slow Natural Healing • Healer's Kit Dependency • Lingering Injuries • Massive Damage • Madness

How August creates a safe table
Players will be sent consent forms to fill out specific lines and veils before the game. This campaign will sometimes include instances of characters with medieval mindsets and will touch on topics related to that time period, but these actions and beliefs will never be condoned and solely be portrayed as an adversarial element for the characters. All interested players are encouraged to join and communicate with me any topics they wish for me to remove from the game. Any of the listed content warnings can and will be removed to allow any player to join. Players are also encouraged to take breaks whenever they feel they need to during the session. All sessions will have a 10-15 minute break halfway into the session. There will be aftercare as well as time for stars and wishes after every session for players to request any topics brought up during a session to not be mentioned again to ensure that the player can continue to enjoy the game.
