About the adventure

Operation SLATE CONDOR is an original (written by the Handler) episodic series of assignments for Delta Green agents. They take up positions as a reactive investigative team for the Conspiracy, with an 'area of responsibility' that stretches from the southern reaches of the Rocky Mountains down to the international border in the Sonoran Desert. The operation is designed for new agents in- and out-of-character, a combination of "exposure" and fast-paced law enforcement work meant to make capable investigators out of prospective assets for the Program. None of this precludes peril, failure and unexpected consequences.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will create Agents in accordance with direction from the Handler that include houseruled limitations. Agents in Operation SLATE CONDOR should be federal law enforcement officers or affiliates, with a strong preference for the FBI, USMS, ATF and other domestically-oriented agencies. Additional direct guidance will be provided on entry to the game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need access to Discord for administration and small (one-on-one) sessions, as well as supplementary rules and an archive of handouts, important details, and between-session events. The primary sessions of the game will be run over FoundryVTT, but nothing is required other than a functional web browser and an internet connection.

What FALCON SPUR brings to the table

Operation SLATE CONDOR uses FoundryVTT to create an immersive environment with visual aids like battlemat-style backgrounds for time-sensitive or exploration-based investigations, overworld maps to track the Agent's positions at multiple locations, and photorealistic (or photographic) backgrounds for non-tactical scenes. There is a large library of music, ambient and instrumental, as well as important sound effects to contribute to the implicit theater of mind behind your own monitor. The game is played as-written in the rulebooks, excepting where houserule amplifications or changes have been directed. Taking notes is critically important for the success of the team during Operation SLATE CONDOR. The Handler will not, in general, function as a ready-access memory bank for the Agents; this is not intended as an antagonistic element of 'realism' but instead to promote good investigative gameplay that rewards attention to detail and imaginative thinking. The game's assets make use of locally-generated AI images for all character art, some scene backgrounds, and some handouts.

Homebrew rules

Operation SLATE CONDOR's houserules affect two areas of the game: 1.) Character creation. Some parts of a character's background can influence their skills to a greater degree than is provided for in the base rules. For example: A character who grew up in a household speaking a second language, or received formal education overseas, will get a percentile added bonus to the corresponding skill. 2.) Combat. Example: Some firearm damage values have been changed.

Safety

How FALCON SPUR creates a safe table

From the core rulebook, Agent's Handbook, p. 6: "Delta Green is about the end. The end of everything. Your family, everyone you know, your country, all life on Earth. It's about the end of everything and your place in it. Because you'll end, too. That's what the fear is about. That's what the game is about." The game covers diverse, heavy and frequently unpleasant material by its nature. Concerns about player safety and comfort will be discussed before proceeding with the game to ensure everyone understands this and that Delta Green is a good game for them to play.
