Character creation

Creating your character

Please make characters with me, and the other players, once the discord is open. The characters will be level 5. We are using point buy for stats. Feel free to use any officially printed material. If you want to use homebrew, I need to read it before we commit to it. Once you're in the discord, I'll be available to help anyone who needs it and even talk players through character creation if they need it.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a discord account and a roll20 account. Discord will be used for communication between players and myself on a consistent basis for anything from character creation to voice chat for the game. Roll20 will be used for a VTT and tracking hp. You arent required to import your character to roll20 or roll dice on roll20. The roll20 is so I and other players can see eachother's hp and map positioning.

What Ryan brings to the table

As a DM, I do my best to use voices that fit characters, but I am no voice actor. I'll do my best, lol. I also utilize many a sound effects. Often my ruling style favors the players and entertainment. I want players to feel important, creative, and smart.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules are as follows: Bonus action potion time- bonus action to drink a potion and an action to feed it to someone else Flanking- should you and an ally be on opposite sides of an enemy, both players will have advantage. Stand time rule- if a player is prone you may help them stand using half of your movement, or they may stand on their own for half their movement on their turn.

Safety

How Ryan creates a safe table

During session 0 in the discord text, prior to the game, we will go over lines and veils. This will be an opportunity for anyone to voice what they are and aren't comfortable with. Should a topic or moment get too serious, I expect players to text me privately, and I will stop the moment and divert away from it without making a scene or exposing the player. After the game, I typically sit in the call for 30 minutes to an hour to talk with players about their experience playing the game, moments they had, how I can improve, etc.
