About the adventure

Wyvern Falls is a sleepy, innocent town, tense with the threat of looming war. As the leaves settle onto the cold earth, a strange certainty arrives; this will be the last peaceful winter. It is in this tension that your characters will play, uncovering spies, and plots, and crimes, and deep dark buried secrets that should never be brought into the light. For whatever reason you feel the urge to tug at the threads of this town, unravel the knots and mysteries until you have the whole horrific tapestry. It promises to hurt. Something is coming, something ancient and powerful, something hungry, something which will change the world irreparably. This story will not have a happy ending. Part of what you will do throughout this campaign is crime solving, finding clues and talking to people to put together the truth of what is happening in this town. The other part will be delving into the extensive underground tunnels and dungeons beneath the town, whether these be natural caves, mine shafts, or supernaturally created dungeons. Two wires connect and a terrible circuit runs a current of horror through the streets. No one will emerge unchanged, unshaken. Everyone’s dirty laundry aired as this world shifts into something else. Does any of this matter when we are faced with such a vile thing?

About me

Hi, I'm Lyra, a 20 year old trans woman, running TTRPGs almost constantly since the 8th grade. I love horror media, from movies and TV to books, podcasts, and games. I frequently draw inspiration from these when planning TTRPG sessions. Some of my earliest memories are of telling stories to my peers, whether to entertain or just for personal enjoyment. My short story "My fingers still search for her" was published in Plenitude Magazine in 2025 and can be read here: https://plenitudemagazine.ca/my-fingers-still-search-for-her.

Character creation

Creating your character

Prior to Session 0 I ask that players come up with a rough concept for a character, to be hammered out and interwoven with other characters during Session 0. Characters will start at Level 1 and use point buy to determine ability scores. Players are free to use their preferred home for character sheets, I just request that a copy of the completed sheet be sent to me prior to the first session and after each level up/change to the sheet. Players are free to make use of any officially published content by Wizards of the Coast prior to 2024. If a player has their heart set on Unearthed Arcana, homebrew, or 2024 content, I may be swayed with explicit and extensive discussion of this content before hand. Do not count on my approval of most things. This campaign is heavily dependent on the player characters, plenty of backstory and personality details are appreciated. Lore and town details will be provided in a campaign intro document prior to the first session to aid players in creating a PC that slots in neatly to the world. I will also weave the world to best fit the PCs created.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To partake in this campaign you will receive a link to a Discord server privately which I ask that you join. This will require having or creating an account. The game will be hosted through a call in this server, a microphone is mandatory, however camera is optional. Additionally, maps will be hosted through Roll20, the link will be provided after you join the discord server. Joining the Roll20 campaign will require having or creating and account.

What Lyra brings to the table

As your GM my first priority is your immersion within the story. To this end I employ a full playlist of ambient tracks to score the session, as well as a variety of voices for the wide cast of NPCs featured in this campaign. I will also intertwine your character with the world and with other NPCs, connecting you to the town of Wyvern Falls directly and intimately. When in Dungeons a map hosted on Roll20 will be slowly revealed, area by area, as you explore. This is a horror adventure, as such combat will tend to be short and intense, with frequently lethal threats. In the same vein my judgement of rules will fall on the harsher side. You are level 1 and have so few hit points. Don't do anything stupid, and remember, running away is always an option.

Homebrew rules

- Nat 1s during combat will prompt a roll on a fumble table. - Dropping to 0 HP and recovering will still leave you with a permanent scar. - Throughout the campaign you will gain Fear which can be removed by relaxing and spending time in safety. Gaining too much Fear will result in a gradually worsening Madness, eventually resulting in your character no longer being playable as they suffer a complete break from reality due to stress.

Safety

How Lyra creates a safe table

Prior to the campaign I ask that all players review the content warnings provided. Many of these are major themes, though some can be worked around with discussion either during or before Session 0. During the campaign players may use X, N, and O cards at any time, either verbally or via chat. These tools are explained in detail below. You may also take a break at any time, just let me know and if you would prefer we pause the game or continue and just work around the absence of your character. There should be no shame or fear about halting game flow to use these tools. Your safety is more important than the story. After every session I intend to stay on call to discuss and chat about events in the session in a calm and lighthearted environment.
