About the adventure
Welcome to Arkham, 1925 — where the shadows stretch long, the jazz plays late, and only the cats know what's really going on. In this beginner-friendly one-shot for Call of CAThulhu, you'll play as a clever feline investigator on the trail of a sinister mystery. Strange occurrences have disturbed the peace in Arkham: a chilling silence falls over certain streets at night, pets vanish from cozy homes, and something unnatural stalks the alleys. The humans are clueless—but you’re not. You have paws, claws, and uncanny senses tuned to the whispers of the unseen. This game is designed as a gentle introduction to the world of Call of Cthulhu, using the lighter and more playful CAThulhu rules. No prior experience is needed! I’ll teach you the rules as we go, provide pre-generated cat characters (each with unique traits and personalities), and guide you through a classic 1920s Lovecraftian setting from a feline perspective. Expect a mix of cozy mystery, supernatural suspense, and lighthearted fun. You’ll sneak, pounce, investigate, and yowl your way through a noir-style adventure filled with cults, curses, and maybe a saucer of milk or two. Perfect for new players, animal lovers, and anyone curious about trying Call of Cthulhu in a whole new way.

About me
"Never let truth get in the way of a good story." I love fun. And roleplaying games. And pie. And horror! I'm a professional DM, TV producer, artist & writer in my regular career. The one thing I do well is storytelling in all its forms. I love horror & using it as a tool for creating fun. I'm a disabled vet and a professional storyteller for TV shows (Producer). Roll20 and Discord are my favorite replacements for in-person gaming. I live on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, so that makes in person gaming impossible these days, so I invested a ton in improving my Virtual DM game & excel at it. I am one of the best Professional DMs you will ever encounter. I live in the Azores, Portugal on Sao Miguel island. It's the Hawaii of Europe and an awesome place to live. I reside here with my family, chickens, dogs and cats.

What Sad Potato brings to the table
🐱 What I Provide My Players As your Keeper of Arcane Catnip, I aim to make this game as fun, immersive, and welcoming as possible—especially for new players! 🧾 Pre-Generated Cat Characters You’ll choose from a selection of unique feline investigators, each with quirky personalities, special abilities, and built-in roleplaying hooks. No prep or rule knowledge required! 🎭 Theatrical Storytelling & Character Voices I use light character voices and narrative flair to bring the 1920s world of Arkham to life. Expect noir vibes, moody narration, and the occasional hiss or meow. 🎶 Ambient Music & Sound Effects With jazzy period tunes and subtle spooky ambiance, I use sound to set the mood and deepen immersion—whether you’re tailing cultists or knocking things off a shelf. 🎲 Rules-Light, Roleplay-First Style I teach the rules as we go and prioritize player creativity. I embrace the Rule of Cool—if your idea makes sense and sounds fun, let’s try it! There’s no pressure to "get it right"; the story comes first. 📜 Theater of the Mind with Visual Aids We’ll use maps, handouts, and art on Roll20 to set scenes, but most action is narrative-driven. This allows for smoother pacing and more imaginative play. My goal is to create a playful, mysterious, and slightly ridiculous experience you’ll remember fondly—no stress, just good claws-out cat chaos.

How Sad Potato creates a safe table
🛑 Player Safety & Comfort Your fun and well-being are my top priorities. Even though this is a game about spooky mysteries and cultist chicanery, everyone at the table deserves to feel safe, respected, and heard. 🧾 Lines & Veils Document Before the game begins, you’ll receive a digital Lines & Veils form to fill out anonymously. This helps me tailor the experience by avoiding unwanted content and handling sensitive themes with care. 🗣 Session Zero & Safety Tools We’ll begin with a short Session 0 to introduce safety tools, go over tone, expectations, and answer any questions. We'll also review your cat characters and ease into roleplay with zero pressure. ❌ X, N, & O Cards (Digital Format) We’ll use a simple digital shorthand system in chat: X = Stop. I’m uncomfortable. N = Let’s pause or shift away from this topic. O = I’m good to continue or check in. Players can also message me privately at any time. 🛋️ Aftercare & Cooldown At the end of the game, we’ll take a moment to decompress, share thoughts, and make sure everyone feels okay before we say our goodbyes. I’m always open to follow-up messages if you need to chat afterward. This is a silly, spooky story told with trust and collaboration. You don’t need to be brave—you just need to be present. 🐾
