About the adventure

Distant planets in a distant future. That is the world of the Third Horizon. Scores of factions vie for power, money, survival, and freedom alike as they make and break allegiances. Ancient portals left behind by mysterious builders make travel and trade more efficient and more open possible than ever before in this corner of the galaxy. Perhaps that prosperity is what welcomed the Emissaries. A faceless group who arrived in the Third Horizon and demanded a seat on the Council - a seat that they were given, much to everyone’s shock. Soon after settling into their Council seats, the Emissaries declared themselves avatars, manifestations of the Icons - the deities widely worshipped within the Third Horizon. This sent cultural shockwaves through the people, who began to rethink what they knew of their Gods. The more faithful of cultures branded these Emissaries as heretics and retreated to their own parts of space, adopting highly secular policies and practices. At the same time as the emergence of the Emissaries, people all over the Third Horizon began to manifest all manner of strange, seemingly psychic and prophetic abilities. These Mystics have been received well by some, but are cast out by others. There are many who fear these individuals, considering them to be a portent of doom from a dark force some call the Dark Between the Stars. Street reporters call it The Mysticides. Scores of mystics have been found dead, or disappeared without a trace. Who is hunting the mystics of Coriolis? And why? As shadowed forces make moves and pull strings to influence events surrounding the party, can they solve the mystery before it's too late? ________ Coriolis – The Third Horizon is a science fiction role playing game set in a remote cluster of star systems called The Third Horizon. It is a place ravaged by conflicts and war, but also home to proud civilizations, both new and old. Here, the so called First Come colonists of old worship the Icons, while the newly arrived Zenithians pursue an aggressive imperialistic agenda through trade and military power. In this game, you will crew a space ship and travel the Horizon. You will explore the ancient ruins of the Portal Builders, undertake missions for the powerful factions and partake in the game of political intrigue on Coriolis station – the center of power in the Third Horizon. You might even encounter strange beings from the Dark Between the Stars. ________ DISCORD INFO: https://discord.gg/Fr2h7q39J7

About me

ABOUT ME: I’m a 27 year old writer working out of North Carolina. Before that, I used to fix helicopters - but, I’ve found that being a professional GM suits me a lot better. Unfortunately, there’s no creative outlet in helicopter maintenance. I like to think that it's really the extensive theatre and writing backgrounds I cultivated in my youth that draw me here. I enjoy reading, video games, and getting lost in a sea of YouTube recommendations long past my bedtime. I have four brothers, one sibling, and two sisters scattered in various parts of the country. Sometimes, we used to keep in touch by playing World of Warcraft together*. *Please don’t ask me anything about the game, I was 11 and very bad. Please please don’t. I will only disappoint you. ABOUT MY GAMES: I’m a huge gamer, particularly a fan of RPGs, open-worlds(not the AAA gaming studio version of “open world”)/sandboxes, and choices-matter type of gameplay. All of this influences the types of games I build and the stories I help players tell. Rescued the prince but not his lover? When he takes the throne, he’ll seek vengeance. Rescued them both? 100 years of peace. Neither? A war begins. Or perhaps you’ve thought of another way? In essence, I want to have the player respond to the world and the world respond to the player. If any of this sounds like an energy you’d like to have in your GM, reach out to me on Discord to set up a table or to join any open seats in a public table.

What Kenzie the Hahn brings to the table

With a history in acting and improv, I can provide solid character work and voices to any scene and like to play with the material that players provide me (for example, "I'd like to reach an NPC from my backstory on the Holo" is a good hook for a player to toss to me as the GM so that I can provide some lore from your backstory to the other players at the table). I also spend a great deal of time curating playlists to appropriately fit each location, environ, biome, and mood so that the ambience in every moment feels just right. Especially for games like Coriolis, I love to embrace the Rule of Cool and allow players to maneuver more freely within the mechanics of the game, ignoring or overlooking RAW in some situations. So long as it benefits the story being told at the table, I am very much open to the wild plans and ideas that you want to pitch me. All maps, sourcebooks, ambience, and other required assets are fully provided.

Homebrew rules

We will be going mostly by RAW within Coriolis: The Third Horizon as much of the mechanics around skill checks, conversations, and puzzle solving are resolved largely through roleplay and interaction with the world/NPCs/scene. If the table ever runs into a situation where we'd like to homebrew a rule, we can always figure that out down the road. For now, we'll stick to the rules of the system.

Safety

How Kenzie the Hahn creates a safe table

Safety Tools - Safety and Consent Survey (Lines & Veils Survey) - X, N, & O Cards - Breaks - Debrief All Lines & Veils will be determined after the whole party fills out their respective surveys and I can collect everyone's responses. From there, we'll briefly go over any topics or subjects that need further clarification and we'll follow with an explanation of the safety tools available to the party. This will be done prior to character creation during the session 0. There will be breaks available during the sessions and a debrief following every outro scene wherein we can discuss what happened during the session or even plan what we'd like to do next.
