About the adventure
A Cypher System Campaign of Makeshift Survival and Cosmic Madness The Catastrophe didn't just shatter worlds, it shattered sanity. What remains of humanity now drifts through the void aboard the Aidos, a hulking, makeshift ark cobbled together from a repurposed deep-space station. Every structural groan, every flickering light, is a reminder that this vessel was never meant for the long haul. It is a flying coffin held together by duct tape, prayer, and the sheer desperation of its inhabitants. You are the crew of the Damocles, one of the few functional scientific vessels attached to the Aidos. Your mission is two-fold: - Search the darkness for New Earth, the rumored habitable planet that is humanity's only salvation. - Scour systems for resources and the forgotten cryopods of lost expeditions trying to save the few surviving souls. The challenge isn't just the wild, strange, and horrific universe outside. It's the insidious terror within. The catastrophic experiment that birthed this flight still echoes through the decks, and the stress of endless void travel is driving the passengers and crew toward madness and revolt. You will find remnants of human expeditions, settlements, labs, and experiments gone wrong, and face impossible choices to keep the Aidos barely functional. The Sword of Damocles hangs over your heads, threatening to sever the final tether to sanity and survival. How long can you keep hope alive when the vehicle of your salvation is a ticking time bomb?

About me
I started running games in 2016 cause I thought Adventure League was too loud and crowded at my local game shop. My main games are DnD 5e and Cypher, though I have experience with Alien RPG, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars D6, and more! I love comedy and fantasy games but thoroughly enjoy horror and sci-fi. My goal as a GM is to make sure you're having fun and encourage character building/growth. I'm not a RAW kind of GM. While I do defer to the rules on certain things, my overall goal is to keep balance and fun integral to the game. I also give inspiration if you make me laugh out loud while you're in character.

Creating your character
We'll be using the Monte Cook Cypher Character Creator (requires a free account). If you want to include your character in my campaign on the site, I will need your email. If you are uncomfortable giving me an email, I'll make sure what Foci and Descriptors are allowed available. https://tools.cypher-system.com/users/sign_in
Lore for the universe of Flight of the Damocles. https://docs.google.com/document/d/11lKBefdwK7ezY2jUDsAtGVQ7PEnD7Svj28NjLhJOn00/edit?usp=sharing All of it is subject to change as I like to have lots of player input for any homebrew heavy games I run. Due some schedule conflicts, the official first session will be off schedule, but the rest will be on the advertised time.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We'll be using Discord for voice chat and Foundry for maps. Character sheets can either be done on Foundry or on the Cypher Tool site.
What GMSyd brings to the table
I love doing an array of voices and including PC backstories in the narrative. I also involve everyone at the table. Unless you explicitly tell me you want to hang back during the session, I will be asking what you think. I'm very much a Rule of Cool GM. I thoroughly enjoy comedy but love to sprinkle horror in my games as well. I do like using music to set the mood as well.

Making bad puns in character grants you an XP.

How GMSyd creates a safe table
There is a lines and veils document in the Foundry game that players can edit if they feel the need to do so. I always ask at Session 0 if there's anything I need to add, and also encourage shy players to either send me a message or edit the document when they have the chance if they don't feel comfortable saying it in front of others. I also have an open door policy. If you need to step away, please do so. The only thing we'll ask when you get back is if you're ok. General Etiquette Rules 1) Respect and listen to your fellow players. 2) Respect and listen to the GM. 3) Please do not distract other players. 4) Making the GM laugh so hard they can’t breathe while you’re in character gives you XP. 5) Take notes. 6) Please save meta-gaming, rule debates, memes, etc. until designated break times. 7) Random Events can occur at the GMs discretion. 8) Remember actions have consequences. 9) Keep noise at a reasonable level. Respect our neighbors and all of our ears. 10) No explicit actions will be detailed in-game. This includes sex, torture, etc. In accordance with StartPlaying.games rules and rightly so, no non-consensual sexual actions and no pedophilia will be allowed in this game. 11) No politics. 12) The Rule of Cool applies to the GM as well as players. My Lines and Veils Lines - Things that will absolutely not occur in game Non-consensual sexual content, violence towards children and animals, excessive gore, pedophilia Veils - things that can happen in game but behind a veil or "off screen." torture, consensual sexual acts, suicide (depression-related)
