About the adventure

Menace Under Otari is part of the Beginner Box for Pathfinder 2e. This is designed to onboard new players to the system and show off the great parts about it. Whether you have other TTRPG experience or not, this is a great jumping off point to enter Pathfinder 2nd Edition. Otari, a small town on the Isle of Kortos, has three major industries; - Logging due to the proximity of quality lumber and a safe port. - Fish due to the safe port and fruitful Inner Sea in which the Isle is located. - Adventuring supplies due to the massive amounts of treasure seekers passing through to the local plundearable ruins and monster dens. You are one of these adventurers. Some of you may be from Otari. Some may be passing through. Each and every one of you know one of the worst kept secrets in this little town. The Otari Fishery doubles as a gambling house. Each of you know the owner, Tamily Tanderveil. Not only do you know her, but occasionally you do a favor or two for her. Well, now she needs your help more than ever. Something has broken through the wall of her cellar and has begun eating her products. Do you have what it takes to end the Menace Under Otari?

About me

Hello all! I have been GMing for 15 years now. I started with Starwars d20 which is what KOTOR was based on. From there I moved on to 3.5th Edition D&D, converted to Pathfinder 1e, then back to 5th Edition D&D, and finally landed on Pathfinder 2e as my primary system. I have ran GURPS, Mutants and Masterminds, and World of Darkness. My favorite thing about GMing, and TTRPGs in general, is seeing how I can make all the pieces fit on the fly. Taking a character's backstory and baking it into the story so well that you wont be able to think of one without thinking of the other. Characters growing and changing as the story progresses in key pivotal moments is what TTRPGs are all about.

Character creation

Creating your character

Session 0 we will either be creating characters together or picking from a list of pre-generated PCs known as Iconics. The starting level is 1. If you would like to get a head start on character creation, here is a link to all of the PF2e rules for free! https://2e.aonprd.com/PlayersGuide.aspx

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I will run this game through Forge using Foundry and Discord for voice. Simply download Discord and create an account on both discord.com and forge-vtt.com. I will send an invite when we are ready to play!

What Sam I M brings to the table

I pride myself on telling a good story in the most collaborative ways possible. I ad lib and "yes and" with the best of them. I also have brought on about 30 or so people into the TTRPG world. I am very experienced in new players, keeping pacing going, making sure everyone both understands what they need to understand, and making sure we have fun while we are at it.

Homebrew rules

No homebrew rules! I do get generous with skill feats and what they do. If you have Quick Coercion and want to intimidate some baddies into a bad decision? Welp, you took a feat for it so lets see what we can do.

Safety

How Sam I M creates a safe table

I believe in the idea of a veto. If anyone has any reason to veto an idea at the table because it makes them uncomfortable, then I honor that. If you would like to speak for yourself, simply say "Veto" and explain what you mean to stop. If you want to keep it quiet, a whisper to me on Discord, Foundry, or through StartPlaying and I will take the heat for you.
