About the adventure

This game is for those players who want a part of that juicy worldbuilding pie, quick cinematic combat, and quirky voices. Dungeon World works best as a system where not only does the GM tell the story and build the world but so do the players. Whatever floats your goat can be placed in the story. If you’re playing a Wizard, the GM doesn’t tell you how arcane magic works (though they collaborate). YOU do. If you hate being bogged down by crunchy rules and just want to do something cool that fits the fiction, you just gotta roll good enough, not have +10 in X and have special ability Y to do it. No more of that “What do you mean I, as a Giant Barbarian, have to roll to hit only ONE of these little goblins? I wanna swipe ALL OF THEM AT ONCE!”

About me

Naturally, I am a geeky lover of all things tabletop. My favorite times playing are when the whole table has that “Ooooo” moment, whether that be from perfectly collaborated storytelling or a surprise from my side of the GM screen. I’m a big fan of the unusual and strange and new. I’m also a big fan of pasta, which is unusual and strange if you think about it long enough… At the same time, I really do enjoy old nostalgic things such as rocking chairs, old museums, and untouched forests, since a lot of interesting things happened for us all to get where we are now. I’m looking forward to what can lead from now and into the future!

Character creation

Creating your character

This will happen during the first session with all players collaborating on their dynamic (“Do they know each other? Are they already together as a group or are they meeting up for the first time? Etc). Starting Level is 1 (Dungeon World goes to 10). Stats will be Standard Array (Six different numbers arranged to Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma). I use the standard Dungeon World book, as well as the Perilous Wilds supplement, and I love homebrew (though if it’s your first time playing Dungeon World I recommend playing the first few levels without homebrew, just so new players can understand the base game first).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Initially, I would like to have everything laid out on a Discord server, just so we can all get to know each other and lay out character creation easily. Once I have players join, I will create a Discord channel for us to share.

What Bo brings to the table

I am a lover of all sorts of strange NPCs, and giving the players someone to adore, hate, and fear. An NPC for every mood! I also play ambience and make playlists curtailed to general moods and/or environments (don’t mind me if I gotta find the perfect song for a switch in pace/tone lol). I also throw many hooks and interesting scenarios until either the party hops on one or creates their own goal as a group to pursue. Sure you can follow my tragically laid tale of a woman whose husband has turned into a werewolf and is haunting the country-side and slaughtering the townsfolk, but I fully support if you all want to help Boblin the Goblin become king of the land to help pay for his child support.

Homebrew rules

House Rule #1 (All games/systems) One Free Death “Some of you may die… but that is a sacrifice I’m willing to make!” Whenever a PC goes down and does not come back, whether through a failed Death Save or no one having the Revivify spell on hand, I allow that PC to come back for free ONCE. The catch is that they are changed by the experience. Perhaps they lost their arm to a dragon and bled out, dying in the arms of their brothers, only to awake in the middle of the night having somehow pulled themselves away from the light. Their Strength may be lower now, due to one less arm, but now they are more cautious and have a higher Wisdom. Maybe a Wizard saw the other side after being slain by a demon and they are offered by some divine deity for a second chance at life, coming back as a Cleric to serve their savior!

Safety

How Bo creates a safe table

I will be sending a link to a Lines and Veils document for everyone to fill out, and then at Session 0 we will talk about it all together in Discord Voice channel or ZOOM so all players understand what is meant for this group and what is not.
