About the adventure
This is a letter writing, storytelling game. Your characters will face Threats and pursue a mission, yes, but the real fun comes with sending Correspondence- letters, audio files, images- to your partner, whose captain pilots another ship headed off into the Great Dark. This play by post game is one part solo journaling game amd one part pen pal hobby. Don't get hung up on the day and time. Rather than traditional monthly sessions with all players present, the game is is split into 4 to 11 total PbP turns spread out over the course of three weeks. Each turn will be played and tracked behind the scenes in private channels with the guidance and support of the Game Runner. The real fun comes from writing letters to your partner afterward, telling the story through Correspondence. -------------- Humanity survived. We thrived. MCC B-151, commonly known as "the Leviathan star," was discovered in 1919. In 1920, the first true Elf was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Many followed, as did gnomes and orcs start appearing in the population in greater numbers. In 1926, Robert H. Goddard, with the help of a team of talented Gnome engineers, launched the first liquid fueled rocket. In 2009, experts discovered the presence of psychic resonance in the fabric of space within the Milky Way galaxy. In 2015, the energy was determined to have both psychic and supernal qualities and to exist outside the galaxy. In 2019, teams of supernal engineers and occult scientists began construction of The Leviathan Gate , opening the future and the galaxy to humans in ways never before imagined. Humanity did what humans do. We took advantage of our good fortune and discovery. The Leviathan Gate provided a means of transporting raw materials and goods across vast distances with minimal energy needs. Humans had access to every corner of our solar system. Even the most destitute amongst us had a brighter future, with comfort, leisure, and plenty waiting just on the other side of a few years of hard work. The hollow dream of a utopia gave way to the superior reality of destiny made manifest. A conglomeration of five human corporations controls the solar system. Under the effective and efficient leadership of UBEC, the Union Barr Earth Co., the galaxy is united physically, intellectually, socially, economically, and ethically. Rapid transit enables vast trade networks to reach even the farthest place in the Sol System. Terran dominance has ensured the solar system remains safe and orderly while promising all citizens a wealthy and prosperous future. We are starship captains. Our ancestors left behind Earth generations ago to give us the stars. But for us, Sol is no longer enough. Beyond the Oort Cloud lie adventures and opportunities that call us to deeper and deeper space. We each have different missions, but we're all coming from the same place. We are the future. -excerpt from "We Are TAD," the 2125 UBEC new recruit manual.

About me
Since it's Native American Heritage month, I'm inviting any Indigenous players interested in one of my games to contact me please. Let's make sure you get to play. Thanks! ----- Tau, taiguey, and hello! I'm Quinn! Taino Daka. I'm a reconnecting Taino with Cuban roots and a love for my community. I have spent my life studying the history and evolution of story and storytelling and want to carry on the traditions I have been taught and have learned. 🪶 - Taino (reconnecting Native) 🏳️⚧️ - Trans femme ⚢ - Transbian ☯️ - Taoist & Wing Chun practitioner 🧑🧑🧒 - Stay-at-home parent I have not done voice training. I'm not sure I am going to. My voice is the same it was before I began transit n. This has no impact on the quality of the games I run. I have spent most of my life studying story. Why we tell them, how we started and why, how they travel, how they change, their effects on us... It all fascinates me. Running RPGs lets me put my education and field to work in fun ways!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Characters will be created upon sign-up. Players roll six sided dice to determine character traits. Using those traits, the character's player designs backstory, personality, appearance, and any other aspects of their characters. This process will be done in a shared Google Document. Once the player is satisfied, they can introduce the character in the Role Play hub.
You and your partner will create your character together in a guided Session Zero. This isn't a game that needs party balance and is much more focused on the experiences of your captain and their Correspondence to their partner.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We utilize Google Docs and Discord. I will send you the links once you're signed up. Other than that, maybe get a nice book if you enjoy in-game journaling. Get some snacks and drinks for your play sessions. Oh! And be willing to indulge your creativity! I'm here to help, but this is YOUR story!
What Quinn Alej brings to the table
Above and priority over everything else, I provide a safe game for people who don't have many other options. I know how hard it can be to find a game where we can be open and just enjoy ourselves. Everything I do here is meant to provide that safe game and community. ------------------ I provide a Google Doc in which we create characters and ships, identify and overcome threats, pursue missions, and tell our story. I provide a Discord Server on which you will be able to post your Correspondence. I also provide shared space on the Discord server for players to chat about non-game topics and find others to game with. I provide a document and guidance on the mechanics, but I do most of the work on that anyway. This game is built on the spirit of Rule of Cool, and mechanics are already minimal, but your document gets you through most of the crunch. And yes, I will provide reminders to send Correspondence.

How Quinn Alej creates a safe table
This space is designed for players from marginalized communities to have a dedicated space to play, without the usual will they/won't they that comes with looking for new gaming groups. I have a zero tolerance policy for things I know to put my loved ones, peers, friends, family, neighbors, and strangers at risk. Ok! With that said, let's move on! Session Zero is between the player and the Game Runner. There is no other pre-game interaction between players that they do not initiate outside of game space. Character, ship, and mission creation occur via private Google Document. Because Session Zero is between the Game Runner and the player, it is possible to try to pair players with players who share interests, experiences, or otherwise uplift their fellow players. All of my games utilize the Traffic Light System. Green means good to go, yellow means slow down and let's adjust, and red is full stop. I'm not sure it will be needed, due to the way this game is designed, but it is in place. I am learning more about how to manage Bleed and how it can apply to games like this. Players only directly interact during the initial departure, through Correspondence, and then during the optional reunion at the end. This allows the Game Runner to filter content and helps keep the game spacec safe. The nature of this game makes content warnings very difficult, but it also allows me to fine tune around any content restrictions players may have. I included the things I expect are most common in correspondence, and will update the list as needed. I use a player consent list based on the Monte Cook survey. This game is inherently open door. Take as much time as you need. All we ask is that we all finish around the same time at the end of the third week.
