About the adventure

The year is 1987. I'm working the beat in the city that never sleeps. Heard some noise about a new gang in town, hustling something big. I led a 1 man raid, and found something shocking....Nazis. Turns out this guy Adolf Hitler, they thought he killed himself back in '45, but instead he sent himself back in time. My name is Brett Thunder. I'm a good cop, my captain calls me a loose cannon. I stay one step ahead of my enemies, but now my enemy is time, and I have to get behind it. In the year 1945 the Axis powers fell apart. For years the third Reich has been experimenting with strange science and occult, seeking a path to victory in their foul conquest. The history books tell you he took his own life…they were wrong. In a desperate bid, the madman Hitler launched himself and a group of his most trusted soldiers, scientists, occultists, and advisors 75 million years into the past. Now, in the year 1987 we have the technology to replicate this. Unfortunately, the machine can only send back living tissue. No weapons or armor will go with you, only the specialized clothes on your back. Can your elite team manage to **Kill the Hitleraptor!** This campaign will set the players back in time with limited supplies. The primary setting of this campaign is New York in 1987 and the "dinosaur era". Its a heavily fictionalized version of New York, and fantasy elements are welcome in it. Magic and fantasy races are totally fine. This campaign is inspired by the likes of Hell Boy, Terminator, Predator, and Kung Fury for the tone and technology. Players will quickly be stripped of weapons after the initial intro sequence! So while players might start with firearms and modern body armor, they will soon have to make due without it!

About me

Tabletop games hooked me hard as soon as I started playing them, now over a decade ago. Ever since then it has become such an important part of my life, I'm excited to share it with more and more people! My background and education is in Film and Digital Arts, and my hobbies have long included acting, reading, and gaming. I've come to really enjoy online tabletop gaming as a unique and exciting experience. The process of designing unique maps and encounters, the blending of music and art. It combines my favorite parts of making a movie with the joy of watching a movie someone else has written! I see myself as a guide and stage designer, not the director of a movie. I use a mixture of homebrew and prewritten content. I like pulling well done pre-made content, and then customizing it so that my players enjoy it to their fullest. I am also currently working on writing some of my adventures and classes to try and publish in my spare time. All of my games are a safe space for players of all races, genders, identities, and religions. All players are welcome at my table as long as they show respect for myself and their fellow players. I've run tabletop RPGs for players of all levels of skill and even technical expertise. If its your first time playing I can happily walk you through the basics and get you ready for online role playing. If it's your hundredth time playing I can offer a unique and exciting experience like you've never had before! Most importantly, I have fun if my players have fun! I look forward to taking people on their next adventure!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen via discord, through text channels leading up to and including session 0. This campaign will begin at level 5 and stats will be using the point buy system. I have a full session 0 document that will be sent out via Google Docs once you sign up, and am happy to answer questions any time.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players must have a microphone, the discord app, and access to a web browser. Chrome on windows is thoroughly tested and guaranteed to work, but I've had players join in from Linux, Mac, and even Steam deck using many different browsers. Cameras are welcome, but not required.

What Nicholas brings to the table

I use foundry Virtual Tabletop along with discord to create an immersive experience. From music and videos, to roleplay on camera. I try to use the rules to create fun and exciting moments, and believe that the rules of the game exists not to be broken, but to enhance our collaborative roleplay experience.

Homebrew rules

A few small combat tweaks that I use are listed below, but I will provide a breakout of any additional rules. I also have a set of modified rules for firearms that may be used at parts of the campaign. Big Criticals (max damage dice) Small Flanking (+2 to Atk instead of adv) Quick Potions (interact with object)

Safety

How Nicholas creates a safe table

Every player is asked to fill out an RPG consent checklist during the interview process to make sure that I can provide a fun and safe environment for everyone. During session 0 I will go over any topics that have been listed as off limits or limited. X/N/O cards are handled through private message, meaning that anyone can DM me on discord during session and I will pivot, fading off or jumping to a new topic.
