About the adventure

We will play Into the Abyss the official adventure. I have expanded it wherever the creator left room, created maps using map making software and prepared the scenes in FoundryVTT to turn it into a short campaign taking roughly 7 sessions. Into the Abyss is an adventure for characters level 10-12 and adds a layer of underwater rules over the existing rules therefore I am looking for players already familiar with the core rules so that the added layer and higher level start doesn't drown you. Your characters sign up for a mysterious job promising riches to those brave enough to dive the depths of the ocean.

About me

I'm Overseer Simi and as the title implies I'm a Game Master that dedicates his time exclusively playing the Fallout RPG. It started roughly 3 years ago when there was only the core book and starter set, I picked it up and never looked back at other systems. After the ol' scheduling issue with my IRL friends I started looking for people to play with online and played my first games over discord and by now I have had the pleasure to play and run lots of games online over the past few years and made some great friends. Check out the section about my GM style if you want to know how one of my games looks. I use FoundryVTT to give you a smooth gaming experience (Less math more playtime!) I joined Startplaying because I am interested in running: - some of my own homebrew adventures and oneshots - The pre written astoundingly awesome tales adventures - Winter of Atom the pre written campaign - Royal Flush the pre written campaign If you or you and your friends are interested in playing any of these make sure to send me a message! If you are interested in learning the Fallout RPG system from an experienced Overseer feel free to message me.

Character creation

Creating your character

Into the Abyss is a nautical adventure that partially takes place underwater, players will start at level 10 and level up twice during the course of the story. Starting at level 10 means that apart from your normal starting equipment your character will start with 2700 caps you can spend on any item rarity 3 or below and you will need it for the sea and the depths below her waves know dangers unlike you landlubbers have witnessed before. But don’t worry about spending it all as there will be opportunities during the course of the adventure to spend those caps and there might even be some special items for sale not normally available with the starting limitations. Upgrading Starting Gear Option 1: Do it yourself: In order to modify a piece of armour or a weapon yourself before the game starts you need 4 things: The materials, The associated skill (Repair for most stuff and science for the others. enough to forego rolling), The required perks (such as blacksmith or gun nut, Some items have no perk requirements in this case you only need the associated skill) and 25 caps per mod installed to hire a workbench. Materials costs: Common (2), uncommon (5), rare (10) Option 2: Hire someone If you lack the required perks and skills you may hire a shopkeeper using the second tier of the crafting services: For 50 caps and the required materials a shopkeeper can install a mod that requires a rank 2 perk at complexity 4 or lower.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a computer, a microphone and an account on Discord. From there I will send you a link to the game and help you get set up on the virtual table.

What Simi brings to the table

I own all the official Fallout2d20 content so if you want to run around with a shovel from the Hollywood Heroes NPC Pack or a chinese assault rifle from Rileys Rangers NPC Pack that is no issue! I've been hosting fallout2d20 games for a long time now and I'm comfortable with the games rules ensuring a smooth experience. My virtual tabletop includes everything needed to play the game with a place to roll, your character sheet and the combat map all integrated neatly along with some other nice stuff such as ambient light, fog exploration etc. It is a powerful tool that I'm still learning to use but over time our game will improve even further. The virtual table stays online inbetween sessions allowing you to access your character even when I'm not around.

Safety

How Simi creates a safe table

In our session 0 I will go into more detail about the tools I use to have everyone feel comfortable at my virtual table. This will also be an opportunity for you to discuss any topics or themes you are uncomfortable with. In short I use: Session 0 to set expectations before the game, X-cards to ensure everyone is comfortable during the game and after session chats to talk about how the game went.
