About the adventure

Elysia is a sealed city of marble and rust set—nobles revel above while the Depths burn their dead below. Walls a thousand years old keep everyone in, and something in the dark likes it that way. In this modern world of Orcs and Elves, navigate class warfare, cult rites, and hungry whispers as you hunt (or protect) the people who still dare to hope. This game blends investigation, survival-horror, and heist-style raids. Expect tense stealth through dimly lit alleys, moral choices that cost you. Social play matters: you’ll bargain with merchants, outwit bounty hunters on HUNTR, and risk calling in favors from the under-city’s Shadowhand. Themes skew grim and grounded: scarcity, corruption, faith twisted into control. Heroes are flawed, victories hard-won, and every boon has a price. If you enjoy tight resource management, creative problem-solving, and atmospheres thick with dread and consequence, Elysia is your kind of nightmare. New to TTRPGs? Returning vet? Not a problem, we'll be running my personal system RPG Unleashed which caters to both, and we can calibrate danger together so you can decide when to creep, when to strike, and what you’re willing to sacrifice to change a city that refuses to let anyone leave.

About me

Hey, I'm Lotus, I've been GMing for 15 years. I like to run open-world adventures where your character feels challenged but also feels like they can make a difference. I emphasize consequences, not punishment for actions. I prioritize story-telling over punishing combat or rigid roleplay. I also use my own d20 system that I've been developing for 10 years!

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll have a free session 0 for character creation and acclimation to the setting. You'll start at level 1. I'll be sending you a character sheet. No need to refer to any books, I'll be walking you through the character creation process.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I'll be running game on Owlbear.rodeo, so no need to make an account. I'll also be running game through discord, so you'll need an account if you don't already have one and you'll be joining my dedicated games server. https://discord.gg/BnnnFxeNdD

What Lotus Child brings to the table

I will be providing maps of The Depths and The Expanse (lower and upper cities respectively), as well as a pamphlet on what you'd know as a character in that world (well-known characters, superstitions and culture as well as rumors). When we create your character, I'll be helping you fit your character into the setting, making sure that your character feels at home wherever they live. I will be utilizing music (assuming no technical failures) for both ambience and combat. Character voices will vary from character to character to make each feel unique and memorable. I am a sucker for a cinematic moment, so I'll be encouraging and rewarding cinematic attempts (so long as they fit with story flow and aren't shoehorned in).

Safety

How Lotus Child creates a safe table

I'll be sending a google doc each player will fill out that will outline in detail what potential triggers I should avoid in our game. This will help me build an oppressive atmosphere that isn't distasteful for players and still remains in the realm of fun rather than 'tolerable' or even worse. My DMs will remain open throughout gameplay for any player who wishes to voice any issue they have with content so that I can see it and discreetly adjust direction to honor the player's boundaries anonymously without disrupting the experience for others.
