About the adventure
NO FUTURE is a sci-fi horror campaign set in the Lancer RPG universe: Union has traced a group of smugglers to the planet Harmonia, where our Lancers (You) stage a plan to intercept them—what unfolds will be an unsettling sequence of events that strain the limits of human understanding, reality, and our very survival in the dark forests of space. The game itself will lean into Lancer's underlying cosmic/cyber horror themes, taking place as a series of vignettes balanced between combat and roleplay; over the course of the campaign our pilots will unravel a coil of mysterious circumstances, meet with shadowy characters, and explore the liminal space between the established lore and the unknowable horrors beyond. NO FUTURE is inspired by the work of such artists as Pascal Blanché and Calder Moore, as well as cyber-horror elements in franchises like Ghost In The Shell, Blade Runner, and Akira. NO FUTURE presents the in-game universe through the lens of the Dark Forest theory, and the post-Hercynia future that MONIST-1 struggled in vain to prevent.

About me
I'm a chef who got into TTRPGs to unwind from my day job, now I'm working to make TTRPGs my day job too!

Creating your character
We'll create LL0 characters as a group during session zero! We'll be using COMP/CON, and for the sake of our collective sanity I'll be limiting content to official first-party (Massif Press) sources only.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account and working mic for voice, and we'll be using Owlbear Rodeo as our VTT. Everyone should also get familiar with the COMP/CON app for building out character sheets. For newer players, I'll include download links for all the relevant .LCPs, and a handful of helpful tutorials to help you get started and smooth out the process!
What forlackofabetternerd brings to the table
I custom-make every battlemap I use! I opt for a consistent hand-drawn aesthetic in most of my games, using a combo of Dungeondraft and assets from 2MinuteTabletop! I'm a GM who likes to strike a balance between challenging combats and narrative-driven action, and I think TTRPGs work best when characters (and their players) invest in one another. I'm always happy to provide context so that player-character choices can be rooted in a world that matters to them, and I'm open to changing things up if they aren't serving the table.
Homebrew rules
We'll go over homebrew rules in session zero! If you have any house rules that you like to use, feel free to DM me and we can run them by the group!

Safety
How forlackofabetternerd creates a safe table
Before we step into our session zero, I'll send out a survey to collect lines and veils that we can go over (anonymously) during the session. This will be a horror game, so some level of discomfort will be foreseeable, and for that reason I've decided to opt for additional/open breaks, as well as thorough post-session debriefs (anticipate 20-30 minutes at end-of-session).
