About the adventure
This introduction to Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition will take you through the horror setting of Ravenloft, a classic adventure originally from the minds of Tracy and Laura Hickman, the hit authors of the Dragonlance series! We dive in as first level characters, seeking fame, fortune, power, revenge... really, it's up to you. We will experience a number of deadly traps, vicious fights, and an overarching narrative of horror and sorrow. While the faceless masses toil in service to Count Strahd von Zarovich, you will face the tortured souls within the mist shrouded lands of Barovia. You can be sure of one thing, here... the darkness is hungry, and you are on the menu.

About me
I am Phoenix, an enby game master who lives in the middle of the United States. I'm very proficient as a game master, having played and run games for more than 20 years. I love the hobby, and have tons of fun with each and every game I'm a part of. I love preparing intricate worlds and stories, only for the party to run through them like a steamroller and leave me improvising every time! I am a writer and an avid wargamer as well, so I love developing stories with other players and coming up with hardscrabble strategic combats balanced for my player's skill and abilities, though I do know when to tone down the difficulty, if the players aren't enjoying the game.

Creating your character
We will walk through creating characters during the first session, from backstory to stats. All characters will be first level, skilled adventurers, but not ranked among the elite just yet.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need access to Discord, the server link will be provided before the first session. You will need to be able to speak and hear on discord, or at the least be able to type in the chat.
What Phoenix brings to the table
As this is a horror adventure, ambience is important, so I will provide a dark soundtrack. Combat will be fair, balanced for newer players (I'm not planning on making you roll new characters every session, for example.) I use a FoundryVTT set up, which will be explained at the start. The goal is for everyone to have fun playing the game, so I have an open door policy and plan to respond to your questions within 24 hours outside of game day, and much faster on days where we play.

How Phoenix creates a safe table
