About the adventure
This campaign features a homebrew setting I built up over the years. It's a realm with heavy emphasis on culture and discovery. The world is filled with uncharted lands, unseen wonders and mysterious threats. Gods walk as freely as the living races of the world, with civilization focused around "Feyns", places of divine worship and teaching. The players will start briefly in idyllic paradise, growing up to discover what the world has in store for them! This game is meant for moderately experienced to advanced players with initiative or a go-getter attitude. The actual party can be any kind of composition, but I always recommend a classic mix of face, tank, spellcaster and support. (hybrids of those too!) Players can expect to discover and make their own paths from level 1 to 20 over the course of 3-5 arcs. Which usually range several weeks to months. The ability to interact with downtime, homebrew and niche mechanics will be ever present, as I favor RAW as guidelines with a preference for rule of cool/creativity. There is some minor race restrictions (no kobolds/lizardfolk/goblinoids/spelljammer/realm specific races) Colorful distinctive characters, unique magics based off DnD lore and older editions, and plenty of content for casual or more serious campaign play! I will before a campaign always discuss with the party what kind of game they hope to play, which content to anticipate and of course their character ideas.

About me
I am a hardcore ttrpg player. It's my ultimate passion, my entire life I've desired a story worth telling. Let's make our own! I turned from player to perma-DM, and I do enjoy it immensely. With life being the way it is, I've decided to try out professional DMing after repeated encouragements to do so by my friends and peers. My games can be quite silly to horrifying, depending on what players desire. I personally thrive in survival horror elements as a DM, but I put a strong emphasis on character roleplay and "daily life" for the party in my games. In dialogue and roleplay, I am very quick on the uptake, and can improvise anything under pressure. Missions, jobs, ambitions, contracts, oaths or divine agendas aside- everyone can find something they love at my table. Note-takers especially thrive at my tables. I like to make specialized homebrew to facilitate any needs players have that a system doesn't actively support!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
I will provide every player a roll20 sheet to edit, and have a special discord channel set up for players' personal notes and info. Which we'll use throughout the campaign for things related to your individual characters. We'll start with character ideas as a group and we'll individually go over each of your ideas, focusing on flavor and personality of the character. The actual mechanical character creation will be done in a session zero type format all together. In addition to normal creation rules we will be using some of the Xanathar's Guide to Everything expanded background rules (for family/origins info and narrative). We won't be using anything from Acquisitions Incorporated. The party will be a group of people that grow up together during a prologue segment of the campaign, where you're introduced to elements that will be present mechanically and narratively. After that we're off to the races! That being said all characters will start at "Level 0" with a custom sheet to reflect their early life. Once the prologue finishes we will go to levels 1, 2 or 3 depending on the group's decisions narratively.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The only things needed are a working microphone, stable internet connection and access to Discord and Roll20! After expressing interest for the game, I will invite you to the discord server and set you up there, then get you all a roll20 link for the roll20 room!
What Nordy brings to the table
I will provide all rulebooks needed for any system, in case you don't have access! My games feature homebrew I make, and if any of it is introduced the player and/or party will have access to any info on it they have available in game. I run difficult combats. Simply put, tactics and teamwork will be a huge focus for the party if they wish to dominate combat scenarios. Most often my combats will feature objectives to complete during the fight. (such as pulling a lever in X turns to lift a barred gate to escape an urban ambush). All in all, I am a colorful and energetic DM who thrives in giving every scene it's full weight. Whether that be the personality and voices I give to every character, scene description via theater of mind or presenting options for characters who have the chance to act in a particular moment. In combat, I tend to stick to RAW except where narrative and badassery meet. Rule of Cool is a big deal in my games, and I tend to emphasis it as a powerful tool to use as a player. I also use roll20 jukebox for in-game music and ambience, though I have no problem with people listening to their own music during games!
Homebrew rules
I don't have any defined table rules beyond an arbitrary, "I will make changes as needed". Depending on the game system being used, I will offer optional or homebew rules to use! For Dungeons and Dragons, I've played a few systems for it between 3.5 and 5. I find a base structure of 5e + 3.5 adapted/homebrew mechanics is my personal sweetspot of enjoyment for this system. I tend to be laissez-faire or hands-off with the rules until there's a problem with balancing or abuse. I only introduce homebrew where necessary, it will be rare to find in any major form. Though minor examples of it may be quite common.

How Nordy creates a safe table
I primarily use the Luxton technique, which has worked well for players in my experience as an online westmarch DM. I am always happy to implement other techniques or tools to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment of the game! Anytime I run a game I am always ready to be flexible for the party's needs, never hesitate to speak up or contact me about any problems! Post-game I tend to make sure everyone's doing alright with a quick check in and post-game talk, as well as get feedback on the session and content!
