About the adventure
Have you ever wanted to play an MMO where your choices matter? Where the relationships your characters form shape the future of the setting? Where YOU decide what the next quest is? This campaign may be what you're looking for. Make no mistake, this is a D&D campaign with roleplaying, drama, the works - But with elements of open-world exploration and old-school Survival Horror. -----=====🚪=====----- There is a door here. One that wasn’t there before. While that is certainly unusual, we’re professionals here. A door being somewhere that doors normally aren’t is completely within our wheelhouse at Echo Post 15. What’s on the other side of the door, however, is an entirely different matter. Our organization makes it our business to document every World we encounter, and gather as much information about it as we can. But the World on the other side of this door does not match anything in our records. The pay is good, and we need adventurers. You’ll have an Echo Suit in case anything goes wrong. You in? 🗻 The Basics 🗻 This campaign is Episodic, Collaborative, Exploratory, and Fantasy. In this context, here’s what those terms mean: ⏰ Episodic. Players join on a session-by-session basis. The party is always changing, and each session is a self-contained adventure; An open-and-shut case. While these can function as one-shots, engaged players will shape the overall plot by proposing quests, and influence the future of the campaign. (See Recruiting Notes for information on this session's adventure!) 🛡️ Collaborative. This game heavily rewards communication with other participants, both in and out of the session. [Perhaps you weren’t on the quest to the Old Mill, but if you knew someone who was, they could have warned you about the smoke rising from the forest, and you wouldn’t have walked into that ambush.] 🌌 Exploratory. This uncharted plane has many strange wonders, ecosystems, and ruins to uncover. Your adventures will be as much about discovering the landscape as fighting monsters and gathering treasure. [Oh, the weather is dangerous in the valley, but that means the wyverns don’t hunt there. An excellent place to get clean water!] 🔮 Fantasy. While requiring the least explanation, it’s important to specify that this world is inherently fantastical - We play this game to step into the shoes of a warrior, a wizard, or another fantasy character and explore a world of wonder and danger. About me
Greetings, traveler. I am Cruxien, an american writer, musician, and game master. I have been running a TTRPG session *at least* once a week since early 2016. I love GMing, especially for new players who are discovering these games for the first time. Should you choose a seat at my table, you can expect: 🔮 Engaging and flexible stories told in my homebrew settings 🔮 🏳️🌈 Queer and Neurodivergent safe sessions 🏳️🌈 📙 Beginner-friendly approach to game rules 📙

Creating your character
After you successfully sign up for your first session, you and I will work together to build your character in Foundry. We have most official 5e content and many third-party / homebrew options available! At the beginning of the campaign, all players start at Level 1. As it progresses, your starting level will be dependent on the level of the other active players in the group. If we play a few sessions and you realize you picked the wrong class, that's okay; We can change it up. It is far more important to me that your character sheet is reflecting your vision of the character than being strict. We will be using Experience Points for this campaign, however there are a number of new ways to get XP; See page 2 of this handout for details if you're interested: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/yaOc2L5jbQvv I will be awarding all XP at the end of every session, so don't worry about tracking it yourself.
This timeslot doesn't currently have a quest! Once a quest is confirmed for this date + time, the information on this specific adventure & party will be posted here. If you're interested in proposing a quest for this timeslot, feel free to join and send me a message! We'll get you set up in no time.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need: - A mic - A space to play with minimal background noise - A laptop or PC (Foundry does not work well on mobile) - A Discord account You may want to: - Think about your character ahead of time. What does your character want to do in Flotsam? Find a missing family member? uncover a lost relic? Or are they joining the team to run away from something back in the Mundane World? - If you're approved to join the campaign and you want to delve into what's happened so far, the Log Entries on our Discord can get you up to speed! Don't stress out if you're lost and confused, we're happy to answer questions.
What Cruxien, Orange Wizard brings to the table
This game will be hosted on Foundry VTT, and will feature many of my own original maps as well as the masterful ones from Cze & Peku. I have detailed information on all supported classes, spells, feats, etc. in the Foundry instance for easy access, including source books from MCDM, Kobold Press, and even a few official 5e products... which I use... sometimes. Besides all those, I do a lot of my own homebrewing to keep things interesting. If you know 5e back-to-front and don't want it changing, you might want to look elsewhere. I also utilize background music and do character voices. While it is not required for you to speak in-character, for this particular campaign it is recommended to at least have a good idea of your character's goals and motivations; Since this is The West Marches, players can't consistently rely on other party members to give them direction.
Homebrew rules
🤹 Ability Score Improvements. When determining your character’s ability scores, you are granted two +2 increases (or four +1 increases / one +2 and two +1s) instead of using the one granted by your character’s fantasy race. 🪄 Custom Spell Lists. This campaign has its own spell lists with minor alterations and additions. These lists will include all 5e spells (as well as new ones), but slightly alter which classes get which spells (to improve niche protection). 👊 Critical Hits. When rolling damage for a critical hit, double the results of your die rolls instead of rolling more dice. This doubling is performed before any modifiers are added to the roll(s). 🍾 Drinking Potions. You may drink a potion as a Bonus Action rather than a full Action. Administering a potion to an ally still requires a full Action. 📜 Spell Scrolls. When using a spell scroll, the spell does not need to be on your class’ spell list. Checks to cast higher level spells still apply. 🥇 Tiers of Play. While not a hard-and-fast rule, their are 5 Tiers of Play in this campaign (as opposed to the 4 described in the Dungeon Master’s Guide): Levels 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, and 17-20.

How Cruxien, Orange Wizard creates a safe table
We will be taking a break at the halfway point of each session. All content warnings listed have a chance of coming up throughout the campaign, but as this is The West Marches, the content of each adventure varies widely; I will be using the results of your Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist to make sure everyone is comfortable with the content of a given session they sign up for. If you sign up for an adventure with a "Yellow" or "Red" content type included, I will warn you over Discord in a private message.
