About the adventure

No experience with Dungeons & Dragons is required. I’ll guide new players through the rules, help create characters that fit your ideas, and keep the focus on fun, teamwork, and story. Veterans will find plenty of depth and challenge through strategic encounters, dynamic NPCs, and a living world that reacts to your actions. The world trembles as whispers of draconic prophecy spread across the Sword Coast. The Cult of the Dragon has returned—fanatics, warlocks, and wyrm-servants united under one terrifying purpose: to bring their dark goddess, Tiamat, into the mortal realm. Towns burn, alliances crumble, and ancient powers awaken as Faerûn stands on the brink of destruction. You will begin as simple adventurers—wandering mercenaries, priests, scholars, or sellswords—drawn together by chance in the quiet trade town of Greenest. But fate has grander plans. As the campaign unfolds, you’ll uncover plots that stretch from back-alley cultists to the highest echelons of power, eventually facing the greatest evil the Realms have ever known. Your journey will take you across sprawling cities, dragon-haunted skies, and battlefields soaked in fire and lightning. This campaign blends classic high fantasy adventure with deep roleplay and tactical combat. Expect heroism, moral choices, and the thrill of uncovering a story far larger than your party. Every decision matters—from who you trust to which battles you fight—and your characters’ growth will mirror the rising stakes of a world in peril. Whether you’re a first-time player or a seasoned veteran, there’s room for your story in the legend that’s about to unfold. So gather your courage, sharpen your blades, and prepare for an epic that spans from humble beginnings to divine confrontation. The cult rises, the dragons gather, and the fate of Faerûn hangs in the balance. Will you stand together against the coming storm… or burn beneath it?

About me

Hello! I go by Lawbind, and I love being a Dungeon Master. I am also an author and roleplayer. I’m 34, a father of four from Tennessee, with 5.5 years of DM experience and 20+ years of text role-playing background. My goal: build a world where your choices matter, your characters feel alive, and every session ends with you thinking “That was awesome.” I have run a few dozen games over roll20, and am looking to run many more.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need to have in order to play in this campaign: Discord Account: This is how we do the voice chat for each session, and I have a discord server where all my games are organized. Roll20 Account: Just a free account, you do not need to buy any of the paid subscriptions or even any of the roll20 products. As long as you have a free account you get access to everything I have while in my game.

What DM Lawbind brings to the table

I provide a balance of cinematic storytelling, immersive roleplay, and engaging tactical combat. You can expect a world that feels alive—filled with meaningful NPCs, dynamic encounters, and opportunities for both heroism and humor. I use character voices, music, and sound effects to bring scenes to life, helping players get lost in the story and atmosphere. Battles range from straightforward brawls to complex tactical showdowns that reward teamwork and creativity. My games feature a mix of homebrew mechanics and minigames designed to make exploration, downtime, and social encounters just as fun and interactive as combat. I fully embrace the Rule of Cool—as long as it makes sense, fits the tone, and doesn’t break immersion or balance, I’ll work with you to make those epic moments happen. Expect a table that celebrates both epic heroics and lighthearted chaos. Whether you’re a new player learning the ropes or a veteran adventurer chasing your next big story moment, I aim to make every session memorable, collaborative, and fun for everyone.

Homebrew rules

Many homebrew rules i have are only in effect at certain times. You will be made aware of when these rules are in effect. Cleave- If you do enough melee damage to end an enemy and have some damage left over, you can hit another nearby enemy as well. Strikethrough- If you do enough ranged [arrows, bolts, etc] damage to an enemy to end them, and there is another in the path of the arrow[s] you can do damage to them as well. Counter Attack: If the enemy attacking you rolls a natural 1, you can use your reaction to attack them once. If you roll a natural one as well, they can attack back. Misfire- If you roll a natural 1 on a ranged [arrows, bolts, etc] attack and an ally is in the path of the arrow, you may hit them for minimal damage- or maybe even another enemy if you are lucky. Potions as Bonus Action: In some cases, potions can be used as a bonus action instead of a full action. A few other homebrew rules exist as well, mostly as slight alternatives to already existing rules.

Safety

How DM Lawbind creates a safe table

I have a strict "no sexual content" rule. During session zero will will go over any and all topics or triggers that the DM or the players may have as well, so that we are all aware of each others limits. I have what I call a "wide open door" rule. Be it privately or openly, you can let me know at any point in time that you are uncomfortable with something that is happening. In most cases, we will change up the situation or topic completely as quickly as possible. With my wide open door rule, you do not need to provide any explanation as to why you are uncomfortable with the topic or situation, but are free to if you desire. Through my discord voice chat, I also have a soundboard option that clearly states that a moment needs to be paused or stopped, that way it is not missed in the event it is written out, privately messaged, or otherwise stated and overlooked.
