About the adventure
Centuries past a mine of great magical importance in Paravel was lost. This ultimately led to the downfall of the Sobranda Kingdom which spread through the region. The coalition arrayed against it spread like a surging wave through those lands. Wherever they went, villages fell, peoples fled, and hope was snuffed out. Nonetheless, the promise of treasure, glory, and power attract all sorts to Paravel, but still the mine remains lost. Reskino is a burgeoning frontier town, growing in the region amongst the ruins of that past kingdom. Despite the danger, talk of the riches of the mine has resurfaced. It must be something in the water. In this campaign we'll depart from the source material in several key ways. NPCs will be changed to fit with character backstories, we will not use Faerûn as the setting, and maps will be modified. Whether you're new to the game or have played through Lost Mine before, this will be a new experience. Many story beats will be similar and the overall structure remains the same, however. This game is geared toward players new to the game or with minimal experience. However, all are welcome as once we conclude this adventure, players are invited to continue exploring the setting and build upon the experiences of their characters.

About me
Come play with the GM one player says is worth $100/session. But for a more manageable price! Discord: https://discord.gg/PvYYZhJYaW - Come learn about the game world my campaigns take place in. I've been running games for 25 years (As of November 2024 in case I forget to update this). I cut my teeth on 2nd edition Dungeons and also the Dragons. Now I mostly run 5th edition games but Pathfinder has a special place in my heart (Fingers crossed; one of my friends said she'd go back to Pathfinder one day). I have an undue fondness for creative outlets. In my spare time I play with game mechanics of board games, create world maps, and dabble in drawing. My non-game life is in finance. Providing advice and teaching clients is as much a part of my traditional career as it is my gaming life. One day I'll have a hybrid career involving both avenues. Check out the youtube channel for examples of my DMing style. There are long-form sessions and shorts. The exhibited game is between friends. Referrals: If you refer a new player and they stay for two paid sessions, your next session is free! Multi-game enrollment: Enrolling in a second game gives you a ten percent discount on both games. Enrolling in a third game gives a fifteen percent discount on all three. There are no additional benefits for additional games. That is, a fourth game would be at full price while the first three remain at fifteen percent off.

Creating your character
Character Creation will occur during session 0. As this game is meant for new and/or low experience players, there is no need to know the rules prior to starting. If you are familiar with the game concepts, please come up with some ideas before we meet. However, this is not required. We will discuss the game, expectations, and what D&D is/isn't. During session 0 we will also talk about the Foundry virtual tabletop and its functionality. This will include a crash course of the system.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a discord account and a Forge-vtt.com account. Both are free. A microphone is needed. A headset is preferred. Webcams are optional. I will use a webcam.

There are many content warnings because this is Dungeons and Dragons and creative freedom reigns. Since Content Warnings include things that "Could" happen, I've added them here. Prior to beginning the game we can discuss anything that should be off-limits. I include six factors in my games as follows: * Combat level 2 indicates monsters and NPCs will fight intelligently but not necessarily brutally. They might target weak party members, fight with some tactics, or attack downed allies. Generally players will be expected to make reasonable choices based on their characters. Optimization is not expected. * Roleplay level 2 indicates characters should have basic motivations and defined personalities. Players aren't expected to be professional actors. Playing a character that is essential you is okay, because you have motivations and a personality. Generally assumed that you are making choices in character unless stated otherwise or if it doesn't make sense contextually (example "Hey, the pizza arrived I'll be back in a sec") * Exploration level 1 indicates a lower threat level of both 'overland' and 'dungeon' level threats. Food and shelter isn't strictly tracked, traps are less dangerous when present, and travel times are approximated. If characters are aware of a location, they can generally get to it without issue * Danger level 2 indicates a medium threat of character death in any given situation. Characters might die due to poor choices, bad tactics, or a quirk of the dice. NPCs are not likely to 'go for the throat' in a given situation but exceptions for some NPCs will make sense within the game. If a character dies there is likely resurrection magic available without fear of unusual side effects * Puzzle level 1 indicates easily understood riddles and puzzles when present. These will make sense within the game and/or be real life puzzles which can be googled. Intelligence checks are allowed and hints will be provided when requested. * Experience level 1 indicates low to no experience with table-top RPGs or Dungeons and Dragons. Players will receive advice when requested and rule reminders when attempting actions which the character would be knowledgeable about. This level is meant for newer players that might still be learning the game or those that know the rules but might not have mastered them. A break will occur approximately one and a half hours into each session. Due to the nature of the game, the timing will vary.
