About the adventure

This is an Aliens premade campaign, with pre-made characters. It's fine for beginners who want to try either the Aliens RPG or Mothership for the first time, with some added spice to the characters. Players will take the roles of members from the UPP (Union of Progressive Peoples) who are sent into deep space to terraform and lay claim to a planet at the edge of Frontier Space where deep range scanners have discovered a wealth of resource the UPP desperately needs in order to maintain their position against the United Americas. This game focuses on horror, mystery, and inter-personal intrigue, and deception. All the fun of the Alien franchise in a one-to-two session format.

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be six premade characters to choose from on the day of playing with premade character sheets for both Mothership, or Aliens: RPG depending on which format the group wanted to run. All you need to do is show up and read over your character sheet(s) and get ready to sling some dice.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have access to discord, and some form of voice communication. The game will be theatre of mind, with a bit of art thrown in here and there. Players should have skimmed the Core Rule Book to have an understanding of how rolls work, but nothing else is required. If possible showing up slightly before game time to hand out characters and go over the character sheets would be extremely useful for getting a feel for what's going on.

What Junior brings to the table

Players will be provided with an original character to play complete with art, character sheet, and a unique feature of their character. I tend to lean into doing a lot of reactionary play. I want to introduce the conflict and plot to the characters and then paint the story they create through their actions. As a premade campaign there's a bit more 'on rails' than most of the games I run, but in the several times I've run this game it's always been fine. Rule of Cool is usually accepted. I want to 'Yes, and' or 'Yes, but' as much as I can.

Homebrew rules

Each character may have some specific rule, quirk, ability, or feature that is unique to them and not pulled from the Aliens RPG rulebook to help further allow the players to really get into the pre-made character and their personalities.

Safety

How Junior creates a safe table

In a small session 0, preferably a small window before the start of the game, we will go over what is generally expected. But ultimately this is a game in the Aliens universe, it will at times maintain the feeling of an Aliens movie or property and will come with all the content warnings that those media do.
