About the adventure
A world of monsters awaits! Do you feel like there aren't enough dragons, vampires, fiends, undead, and other terrifying monsters in your games? Have you ever wanted to take the fight to them, and not worry about shades of grey or whether or not they're actually evil? In this monster-hunting series, you can do just that! Pushed back into walled enclaves, mortal life has nearly been obliterated. Beyond their magical barriers, nothing is safe. Grand monsters of all sorts stalk the wastelands, ruined cities, forests, and wild spaces between these enclaves. Merchants pay handsomely for protection when traveling between cities, and bounty hunting has become a supremely lucrative profession. Craftsmen turn the bits and pieces hunters bring back into even better gear, and civilization pushes forward into the small pockets that hunters are able to clear out for them. Join these great hunters, and take the fight beyond the barricades. Save the world - together! 💥 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 💥 ⚔️ 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒕: High 🐉 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈: Medium ☠️ 𝑫𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒚: Medium-High 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒖𝒚-𝒊𝒏: If you want to hunt monsters and enjoy crunchy and exciting combats, flavourful rewards based on what you hunted, and a dangerous world where you need to stay on your toes, then this is the game for you. You can expect an action packed adventure with no brakes, other than the handful of times you're in town. You can also expect to level up quickly, and really get to experience the full range of DnD content! 🏳️🌈 📑 I prioritize a safe table for you and your party, and aim to create a fantasy setting that does not rely on bigotry to create thrilling heroics and memorable adventures.

About me
Greetings and warm wishes, adventurers! Whether you are a bold and hearty hero looking for a fantastical adventure or a clever and cunning scoundrel who just wants to do the job, get paid, and go home, you'll find your place at my table. My name is Craig (he/him), and I've been a game master for more than half of my life. I grew up with my dad telling me all sorts of fantastical stories as a kid, and from there, I only delved deeper. I've run games professionally for a decade now, and have told stories for veterans, new players, and everything in between. When it comes to my philosophy on games, I hold three ideals above all else: 💙 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 The tabletop scene is one shared across a variety of lives and experiences. It doesn't belong to any one group, and we must all look after one another and cultivate our community to make it expansive, welcoming, and safe! 🎉 𝐅𝐮𝐧 Laughter is a universal language. Sharing moments of joy, sorrow, exhiliration, anger, and passion together lets us create memories that last lifetimes! Plus, telling dumb jokes is a fantastic way to blow off steam. I want my table to always be a place you can come to in order to have a good time. ✨ 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 Lifelong learning means that the world never grows stale and rote. Following new stories and opening yourself up to new ideas gives you the opportunity to grow, and see the world through someone else's eyes. Yes, it's important to feel comfortable and safe and happy, but sometimes, it's also important to feel a little uncomfortable in order to grow! If you only have the same experiences day after day, then your life will flash right by, and if I can help you avoid that, I'd love to do so. If all of this sounds like it's up your alley, then come on by, grab some dice, and join me for a rollicking and memorable adventure! No matter what your system of choice is, as long as you bring a good attitude and respect for your fellow players, then you'll find a home here. See you at the table!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be discussed in-depth during Session Zero and in the group Discord beforehand. Access to a DnDBeyond campaign for character creation will be provided when you join the game, and you can feel free to discuss character concepts in the group Discord ahead of time. I suggest that you not completely finalize character creation until after it has been discussed during Session Zero, as after discussing it with the party, you may wish to make some alterations to better fit into the party's identity and goals. 🗡️ Characters will start at 1st level. 🗡️ 27 Point-Buy for stats, not rolled. 🗡️ Averages for HP instead of rolling. Further prep materials will be provided to you once you're signed up for the campaign, to give you a more in-depth look at just how character-building works. I offer several additional perks for new characters to help you create the character of your dreams!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Voice and video communication will be run through Discord, with DnDBeyond used for character creation, and Roll20 for battlemaps, visual aids, and dice rolling. You are not obligated to use video, but I will be running with my video on. You should: 🗡️ Bring a decent mic and headset, and preferably remain on push-to-talk or otherwise mute yourself between dialogue if you expect to have disruptive background noise. 🗡️ Join the group Discord server. 🗡️ Join the DnDBeyond campaign for the adventure.

How Craig Chapman creates a safe table
𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲: Beyond the Walls is a monster-hunting heavy combat series, where you will always have at least one lengthy combat, and potentially other small combats as well. Investigating and hunting down the monster will be an important part of most games, as well harvesting it for components and pieces afterwards. You should design characters that have reasons to be hunting monsters, and are oriented towards combat in one way or another. All skills will have reasonable usage, even charisma-based ones, but combat will take the main seat. I run a script-heavy Roll20 game with plenty of visual aids and handouts, and will (usually) post most of these to a group Discord as well. Dynamic lighting, scripts to improve the accessibility and quality of your game, and macros to make every element of the game as simple as possible are all elements that I offer. These elements can be disabled upon request, if there are issues with lag or concerns about usability. We will use Roll20 as a virtual table-top (VTT) for gameplay and dice-rolling, and Discord for voice and (optional) video. I will use a camera, but you are not required to do so unless you want to. I use music bots in Discord for audio and ambience, but can also use Syrinscape upon request. I will have Discord open at all times on a separate monitor, so if you want to ask me any questions or have concerns about the gameplay, you can message me either straight through Roll20 or through Discord. I am also available throughout the week (excluding Saturdays) to help troubleshoot any tech issues or character questions, to a reasonable extent. 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬: Lines and Veils will be checked at the top of sessions, and I will reach out to players to confirm any potential problems with the expected content during play. Nevertheless, if at any point during gameplay you feel like a line is being crossed, or maybe you realize that you're much less comfortable with something than you thought, you can utilize our in-game X-Card system, which is anonymous, and we will move on from whatever topic is being discussed, or moderate it to make it more comfortable. I also maintain an open door policy and you may always come to me before, during, or after games to discuss any concerns you may have with me about game content, my behaviour, or the behaviour of your fellow players.
