About the adventure

Deathwatch! The Ordo Militant of the Ordo Xenos. The secret, Xenos-slaying Angels of Death of the Emperor's Most Holy Inquisition. Long have you labored to prove yourself worthy and now that time has come. The Second Oath is done. The Silver Arm and onyx ceramite plate now cover every centimeter of your blessed and venerated Aquila Power Armor. All markings of your beloved chapter gone, save one, replaced by the iconography of the Inquisition and the Emperors hand-picked Angels of Death. You run your hand across the deeply carved high gothic Litanies of Hatred and Duty fusion-scored into your left shoulder pauldron. They are a deep reminder of the ancient and sacred oaths sworn between the brothers of your Chapter and the secretive, Inquisition. Your reverie is interrupted by the quiet chime of the airlock finishing it's equalization cycle. Even as the indicator lights on the panel begin to light you and your brothers weapons are levelled in less than a quadruple beat of your twin hearts. The doors begin to open and before they've finished you see the greenskins. Your bolter, "Faith", barks thrice and three leering, oversized green heads explode. Your voice thunders through the corridor louder even than the bolters of your brothers, "DEATH TO THE XENOS!"

About me

My name is David and I'm a forever-GM. I was bitten by the big, bad red box at age nine and the rest, as they say, is history. I've been playing and running tabletop RPGs for 45 years and it is still my passion. I have also always enjoyed teaching new players and systems. Teaching others to play and GM has always struck me as the best way to be a good custodian to the hobby. Something I became mindful of after owning an LGS for a few years. Over the decades I have gotten a lot of practice writing and running several popular IP based RPGs. I'm particularly fond of the Star Wars, Star Trek, The One Ring & Warhammer 40k campaigns I've been fortunate enough to GM in the last two decades. On a more recent note, I have begun running Forbidden Lands campaigns. I've fallen completely for the setting and the system. Free League really outdid their selves with that particular work. The last few months I have been learning my way around Foundry VTT. I couldn't think of a better way to learn the VTT than run something on it. So, that's a glimpse into my past and a word about my present. As for the future, I sincerely look forward towards meeting more of the community here. See you at the table, David

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create the characters together in Foundry before play begins. For an Adeptus Astartes at Tier three there are really only four options. Tac Marine, Assault Marine, Devastator Marine or a custom build. If you decide to start on your build ahead of time then stick strictly to the Core (V2), Redacted Records 1, & Forsaken System Guide. Start with a Tier 2 marine scout and spend 300 points total. We will handle your gear and loadout when we are prepping the Foundry sheet. That way we can add on the appropriate Deathwatch stuff that I've had to homebrew.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You are going to need a Zoom account. A semi-modern computer with 8-16 Gb of Ram. A decent internet connection. And LOTS of Xenos repellant (Flamer ammo works well)

What Fire Mountain brings to the table

Expect to be outnumbered 50:1 A LOT! Plan on experiencing the entire gamut of Xenos adversaries and Deathwatch mission types (Espionage, Extraction, Purgation Protocols, etc...) Be prepared for me to try to poison, stab, staple, mangle, incinerate, dissolve, blow to bits, consume and convert you to bio-mass and even occasionally accidentally execute your PC's. I will usually fail, but I WILL try. A LOT. I'm a decent voice actor, but my Ork is downright Orky. Did I mention this campaign might be a bit combat heavy? So don't come light on ammo. As for other expectations. I'll just say Crunch all you want. I'll make more. Oi! Roolz? Ain't no bloody roolz ta 'Krumpin! An yu! Yeah, yu, yah Beakee. Me an da Boyz'll see yu at da tabel.

Homebrew rules

The only homebrew necessary is gear. We'll cover all that at the table.

Safety

How Fire Mountain creates a safe table

As always the Open Door policy will be in effect. No questions asked, no explanation necessary. You need a break, you take one. Just maybe flash your hands in a "T" sign (for Time-out) at the screen first. We will do a sesh-naught. Stars & Wishes at wrap up. Folks, this campaign is a Space Marine/Deathwatch power fantasy for 40K, Dark Library & Space Marine fans. If that giant pile of Content Warnings is an issue for you I STRONGLY advise you to pick a different campaign. Those aren't what might be in the campaign. That's a list of what WILL ABSOLUTELY be in the campaign.
