About the adventure

Seventy years ago, the Ice Maiden, Luskan's only flying vessel, vanished into a blizzard, costing the Pirate Kings the war. Just a week before winter freezes the ocean, a half-frozen sailor has stumbled into Luskan, claiming to be its sole survivor. The Pirate Kings have called for one last expedition, a race against winter in an attempt to uncover the truth buried beneath the ice. As part of this frosty expedition, you’ll battle the cold, chase whispers through frozen wreckage, and face the haunting echo of what happened aboard the Ice Maiden. The storm hides more than snow and silence. Will you fly the ship home, or join the souls still trapped in its frozen wake?

About me

I’ve been a Game Master for little over a decade, with the last year spent running games full-time on SPG. Storytelling has always been my obsession. With a background in film and game art, I bring that creative focus to every table, weaving each campaign like a passion project I get to share with my players. What started as a scrappy one-shot has grown into a huge high fantasy world, layered with lore and intersecting epics. Every table adds to that living timeline, shaping a setting that’s ever-growing. I love building stories with creative players, from simple beginnings, to deep psychological intrigue, all the way up to epic tales of heroes and villains, with just enough absurdity to keep us laughing years later. If you want to dive into rich, cinematic high fantasy and lose yourself in the narrative, we’re going to have a fantastic time together.

Character creation

Creating your character

I will offer a variety of interesting pre generated characters for you to choose from, ranging from basic archetypes all the way to new and unique sub classes. Players are welcome to create their own 4th level character with the following parameters: - Use the standard array - Any race or class is welcome. If you are using unofficial content, do check with me at least an hour before the game. - Choose any common equipment that'd make sense for your character to have in the context of the game. - 1 Uncommon consumable (potions, elixirs, etc) - Either 2 uncommon or 1 rare piece of equipment (weapon / armor) - 1 rare wondrous item (Rings / Boots / Cloak / etc) As part of the character creation, do come up with a reason as to why your character would be in or near the pirate city of Luskan prior to the frozen months of winter, as well as why they'd be hired to conduct an expedition to the northern artic tundra. Characters can be either hosted on foundry VTT or DnD Beyond, and a miniature will be provided for encounters on Talespire.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a web browser ready to join the link I'll send you for foundry VTT. You'll be able to see and edit your character sheet there, as well as keep a private journal and a communal one for session note keeping with the other players. It's possible to join this link with a tablet, but phones may prove difficult due to resolution constraints. Download Discord onto your preferred device and have an account ready. https://discord.com/ Have a microphone ready and set up for voice chat. Ideally be on a place without much noise. You can use your phone microphone or headphones, as long as your voice is clear it will be perfect. Though cameras are not required, they are encouraged to help with roleplay. You'll need a computer of some sort to download the free version of Talespire from Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2881860/TaleSpire__Guest_Edition/ Don't worry if you can't meet the minimum requirements, the map will be shared through screen share on Discord. If more than 1 player are unable to play with Talespire, I'll switch the encounter maps over to foundry VTT. For this system you'll need a 20 sided dice, and some other dice depending on the character you choose to play. You may also choose to use digital dice on roll20 or Talespire if you'd prefer.

Safety

How Martin (The Fate weaver) creates a safe table

This is a One shot, meaning there won't be much time to spare, so the main safety tool will be the X, N and O card and a 10 minute break. If a topic causes discomfort to a player, they'll send an emoji into the discord chat or privately, and the topic will fade to black, continuing to the next scene and avoiding detailed descriptions of the events.
