About the adventure
Whispers coil through the alleys of Vel Thorne, the capital of a kingdom in mourning. The king is dead. Rumours abound that he was murdered in his chambers under mysterious circumstances -and the city trembles under the weight of its secrets. The city's three powerful criminal factions deny involvement. The Princess weeps before the court. And in the shadows, knives are being sharpened. In a desperate move, a most unusual deal has been offered to a handful of the realm’s most notorious rogues. The offer? Amnesty for their past crimes, a mountain of gold each, and a chance to begin anew. All they have to do is uncover the truth behind the king's death. But in Vel Thorne, truth is a luxury few can afford - and the closer they get, the more danger they are in. The rogues will need to navigate a city that trades in secrets, rewards cunning, and punishes trust. Their investigation will draw them into heists, ballrooms, and the underbelly of a city built on deceit. ________________________________________________ The Amnesty Accords is a homebrewed mini-campaign in which every player character must be a rogue. It will run for approximately 12 weekly sessions over around three months. ⚖️ An all-Rogue D&D mini-campaign set in the opulent city of Vel Thorne - where every whisper could be your salvation or your doom. 🗡️ Unravel a tangled murder mystery in the heart of the kingdom. 💀 Experience a range of exciting scenarios that the party find themselves in - from cathedrals and palaces, to thieves guilds and heists. 📖 Choose from a wide variety of rogue subclasses - including three that have been homebrewed specifically for this campaign: The Bouncer, The Divine Scoundrel and The Jester. Characters begin at Level 7 and by the end of the campaign will be level 9. Your backstory matters, your choices shape the city, and in Vel Thorne, silence can kill as surely as steel. (Note: This mini-campaign may occasionally make use of content from official published adventures. These will be adapted for the setting and, where appropriate, will have enemy stat blocks adapted for the level of the party. For example, the party may spend part of a session on a heist from 'Keys to the Golden Vault'.)

About me
Hi, I’m Jess, the owner and founder of Together We Roll, and I love running games for people like you. I’ve clocked over 750 hours as a professional GM (and more than 1,000 hours in total) across D&D 5e, Tales of the Valiant, and Star Wars 5e. Every game I run mixes roleplay, exploration, and combat to create stories you’ll remember long after the dice stop rolling. No two groups are the same, so I adapt my style to you. Some players want crunchy tactical combat, others prefer moral dilemmas or deep roleplay, and many enjoy a mix. My goal is to make sure the story feels alive, encounters are challenging, and everyone at the table gets their moment to shine. I run my games through Alchemy RPG, a virtual tabletop built for theatre-of-the-mind play, with tactical battlemaps when combat kicks off. You’ll also get access to all my D&D Beyond content for character creation, and we use Discord to stay organised. It’s easy to jump in, even if you’re new to the tools. Whether you’re brand new to TTRPGs or a long-time player, you’ll find a welcoming seat at my table. If you’re starting fresh, I’ll teach you as we go. If you’ve been playing for years, you can expect complex encounters, memorable NPCs, and the space to tell your character’s story. Beyond my ongoing campaigns, I also run private games for groups of friends, events, and conventions. I design bespoke sessions for teams and organisations too. However we play, my promise is simple: a safe, inclusive, and reliable gaming experience.

Creating your character
We will be playing D&D 5e (2014). 2024 rules and character options will not be available in this campaign. Characters will be created in D&D Beyond by following the link you receive after joining the game on Start Playing. Please don't select your subclass until after session 0. The following applies to all characters: - Characters start at 7th level in this mini-campaign. - All characters must be Rogues, and each character must have a unique subclass. - All characters should use starting equipment for their class. I am open to discussing changes to this within reason. You may also choose an Uncommon magic item to start with (requires approval from the DM). - Ability scores can be generated through Point Buy, Standard Array or Rolled. - Hit points must use fixed value. - Your subclass can be selected from the Players Handbook (2014), Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, or the three unique subclasses created for this campaign. - Multiclassing is not allowed in this mini-campaign. - Firearms do exist in this setting. - Feats are allowed and all characters will start will a free feat at level one. - Optional class features are allowed. When thinking of your character's backstory consider: - What crime/s do you need forgiveness for? - Do you know any of the other player characters? - Have you dealt with any of the three thieves guilds before? - Do you have any contacts, close friends, or family that are important to you? - How does your history/experience play into your subclass? - The campaign begins with each of you receiving a royal summons. You will work with the DM to describe what you’re doing when the summons arrives - you might be mid-heist, mid-assassination, in the middle of something mundane, or doing something else entirely.

What Together We Roll brings to the table
Once you join the game on Start Playing Games you'll receive links to my discord server and the D&D Beyond campaign. The Alchemy game link will be shared before our first session. The Discord server is only used for planning and discussion between sessions. We will use the communication tools (such as voice chat) built into Alchemy for the game itself. If anyone cannot use the communications tools built into Alchemy then we will come up with a different solution. You can find out more information on Alchemy VTT here: https://alchemyrpg.com/ I pride myself in using appropriate artwork, maps, and ambient music in games to create a fully immersive game. I'll also always try to play by the rule of cool - but I expect my players to respect my final decisions as the DM.
Homebrew rules
1. We play with critical successes and critical failures. A natural one will always fail - regardless of modifier - and a natural 20 will always succeed (in some way!) - regardless of modifier. This doesn't mean you can achieve game-breaking feats with a natural 20 - the DM still has final say over what happens. 2. We don't use inspiration but context matters to what you're trying to do. If you are trying to persuade someone and give a compelling speech the DM may ask you to roll with advantage, if the speech is the opposite of compelling you may be asked to roll with disadvantage... 3. If playing in a campaign, your PC will get a first level feat. 4. In combat, players can opt to delay their place in the initiative order to go later in a round. If a player chooses to do this, their turn is always delayed to the later spot in that battle. 5. Drinking a potion is a bonus action, feeding a potion to someone else takes an action. You can opt to drink a potion as an action and in that case you get the max possible healing from it. 6. 2014 and 2024 games both use One D&D playtest exhaustion rules. This means for every level of exhaustion you have, you subtract one from your D20 rolls. For example, if you roll a 17 and have seven levels of exhaustion, your roll is a 10. If you have 10 levels of exhaustion your PC will die. 7. Flanking is not possible in my games, though Sneak Attack can still be procced by an ally standing within 5ft of an enemy. 8. In my 2014 games, any class that gains Weapon Mastery as part of its base features in the 2024 rules also gains it here, following the same progression. Certain weapons grant special effects, called Mastery properties, when wielded by a character who has the Weapon Mastery feature. These properties add tactical options in combat - for example, a Push weapon can shove an enemy back on a hit, or a Vex weapon can give you advantage on your next attack against the target. Each weapon has one specific Mastery, and you can only use it if your class has the Weapon Mastery feature in its 2024 version.

How Together We Roll creates a safe table
I always run a range of safety tools in my games and I know these are even more important in games with strong horror themes. We will go over the safety tools used in this campaign during session 0, and I will explain fully how to use them. There will always be fixed areas in the campaign area in Discord where players can review content warnings and lines and veils. In addition to the above, I will explain any new and unique rules in session 0, and record them in an accessible place in the Discord to ensure everyone is on the same page.
