About the adventure
Important! This is a weekend adventure consisting of two sessions on Saturday Nov 8th and Sunday Nov 9th. It could be extended with player interest but there are no plans to do so as of now. Drachenfels, the Great Enchanter, is dead. The very embodiment of horror and evil, songs still sing of how he was slain by a Vampire and a humble playwright. Man, beast or daemon, Drachenfels lies mouldering in a filthy sepulchre. But Castle Drachenfels still stands, shunned even by the most desperate and corrupt inhabitants of the Grey Mountains. Its seven towers claw towards the grey skies like the fingers of a mutated hand, and the bitter mountain winds howl around them like souls damned to torment... "The Fortress was the man, Genevieve thought. The towers and battlements, the corridors and chambers, the very mountain crag which the bowels of Drachenfels were carved from: they were the Great Enchanter's arteries and organs, his blood and bones." — Drachenfels by Jack Yeovil Something is stirring. Venture into the classic Warhammer 1st edition adventure Castle Drachenfels, updated to WFRP 4e. Castle Drachenfels is not a straightforward or simple adventure - not that you would expect anything to be straightforward in such a dreadful place. It's old school, brutish, and altogether unfair. Adventurers' lives are short and futile. We will die often and die well, together, as we experience the fun that can be had with a couple of nights of free time, a handful of doomed PCs, and an outrageous dungeon that hates you. I may be guiding the Castle's inhabitants to devour you— but I'll also be rooting for you every step of the way! Let's have some laughs at the absurdity, grit our teeth at the challenge, and maybe come out victorious. "Drachenfels. The Great Enchanter. A devil in human form, who cheated Death for centuries unknown; a man with appetites so base they lay beneath satiation; a necromancer, torturer of the dead, dismemberer of spirits; a vileness made flesh; a wizard, a scholar, a monster. Untold are the reaches of his barbarities, uncounted the number of his treacheries, beyond belief the depravity of his practices. Was ever such vileness born of mortal flesh?" — Lives of the Depraved, by Konrad Steinhoff (Talabheim, Schnuffler & Son Publishers, 2099)

About me
Hey, I'm Jeremy! I've been playing all kinds of TTRPGs for about 15 years now. I enjoy the fantasy dungeon-oriented games like Pathfinder and D&D, but I *love* fast action systems like Savage Worlds. Teaching players new games is sincerely a joy for me. I'm secretly trying to increase the amount I game and am using the money from this as an excuse to do so. Onward!

Creating your character
We’ll be creating characters using the standard WFRP 4e character creation rules including random generation with XP incentives. Players may override rolls to better fit a concept, but doing so will reduce their starting XP as outlined in the core rules. Character creation will take place before the game, with guidance and support provided throughout the process. If needed, we can set up a dedicated session or time slot to walk through it together. Content from the Core Rulebook is fully supported. Additional material (e.g., other species or careers from expansions) may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Just check in with me. For example, one Ogre might be fine, but an entire party of them would break the tone. No prior experience with the character creation process is required, though familiarity with the rules will help speed things along. If you're new, I’ve got you covered. ===================================== You will need 2-3 characters to be safe. They will all be given a sum of XP to represent some experience adventuring. Fate & Resilience will be limited to allow for the dungeon to be dangerous- completely fresh characters can be incredibly durable just due to their resources, and one shots mean that PCs are often more comfortable dumping those resources.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A free Forge VTT account is needed to access the Foundry server where we play. No external books or materials are required. Everything needed is provided through Foundry VTT. Characters will be created before the first session, and I’ll walk you through the process. You don’t need to read the entire rulebook beforehand, but I encourage players to browse a quick reference or summary of the core rules (I’ll link to a cheat sheet) to help get you oriented. I’ll cover everything you need to know to play, and you’ll pick up the rest as we go. Whether you're a grizzled veteran of the Empire or this is your first time holding a rusty sword in Reikland, you’re welcome at the table.
What Jeremy brings to the table
This campaign will be run using Foundry VTT, which includes all the necessary Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition content, character sheets, dice mechanics, tokens, maps, and journal entries. Everything you need is already set up. No extra purchases or accounts required. I aim to deliver an immersive and engaging game experience. You can expect: Occasional music and soundscapes to enhance atmosphere Tactical, challenging combat where enemies fight smart and hard A rules-respecting table. Flexible enough to adapt for fun, but grounded in the system’s intent A focus on collaboration and story-driven choices, with room for creativity and consequence My style strikes a balance between grimdark storytelling and the wild, unpredictable charm of WFRP. Whether you’re dodging nobles' schemes or cultists' blades, the world will respond to your actions and expect you to work together to survive it.

How Jeremy creates a safe table
This game uses Consent Checklists and the X card system to support a safe, respectful, and enjoyable play environment. Consent Checklists are recorded in a form on our Foundry VTT server, which will be sent to all players prior to Session 0. You’ll be able to fill it or speak with me privately if preferred. We'll go over a combined (and anonymous) document together in Session 0 to make sure everyone's on the same page, and forms will remain editable throughout the campaign. X Cards are implemented via a Foundry VTT module, allowing players to flag content instantly and discreetly. Players may also use chat or direct messages at any time. At the end of each session, there will be time for an optional debrief. A chance to check in, talk through any moments that stood out (positively or negatively), and discuss any adjustments or accommodations needed moving forward. You're also welcome to just hang out and chat about the game. The goal is to tell a thrilling, dark story together while keeping the table collaborative and welcoming.
