About the adventure
The people of The Commonwealth of Plaintonville, known as Commoners, have gathered in a town square. They are sick and tired of the giant rats coming out of the ground, killing the townspeople. The town comes together to go down into a crypt to find the source. Where are the rats coming from? 1,000 years ago the Common Knights fought the evil Rat Men, pushing them back into their own temple, sealing them away in a plane called Ratovia. The Rat Men have finally found a way to return back to Alaria, and wish to enact their revenge. The crypt below The Commonwealth of Plaintonville is the ancient Rat temple.

About me
Hello Adventurers! My name is Patrick and I am also a chef. Classically trained and with 30 years of culinary experience. But that's not why you're here. Gaming-wise, I have played Dungeons & Dragons during its TSR days. I got away from it for a bunch of years and came back for 5e. I've been back in the game for about 6 years now. I GM games for a local club based in New Jersey and also have been GMing for Daggerheart. So you can expect to see some one-shots and short form campaigns for both 5e, 5e 2024, and Daggerheart. Welcome in and let's roll some math rocks.

Creating your character
Everyone plays as a literal commoner statblock. There will be no death saving throws or healing. When your character dies, you’ll come back the next round as a new character, in the same spot in initiative. The point of this one shot is for players to improv their way into making a different, simple, character almost every round. You are only allowed to prep your very first character. Flavor is everything, so there really is no limits to what is allowed except that you have to use the Commoner statblock and have to be medium or small size. This is meant to be dumb, low stakes, and just a good time. Everyone will start as a Commoner with 4hp. Players are only allowed to prepare this one character. It is recommended that this character is somewhat grounded, like a dwarf blacksmith or human baker. We will discuss how to remake your character during game play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In this game we will use Discord for video and chat. A link will be provided for you to connect in Discord. We will use the Commoner Stats from the DnD 2024 monster manual. Players start with the as written stats.
What Patrick-ChefP brings to the table
This is a fast paced one-shot intended to be silly, fun, and full of improv. The game will also be theater of the mind. I'll do some voices for npcs as needed. We'll follow the rules as written but don't be afraid to suggest something that you think will enhance the narrative.
