About the adventure
Your sleep town awakes to a chilling missive on all of the message boards. The instructions read: "TO BE CARRIED OUT BY EVERY CITIZEN, EACH NIGHT OF YULETIDE Watch out. Crying, pouting, and shouting forbidden! Bar your doors and widows. Keep children inside. Mistletoe over the doorway wards the evil away! An evil known as Krampus this way approaches. Priests warn that It sees you when you're sleeping. It knows when you're awake. It knows when you've been bad or good. So be GOOD for goodness sake... Sundown curfew in effect for all except guardsmen. Any with skill in sword or spell, report to the Castle Freiburg immediately. A reward of coin, meat, and mead awaits any that arrive. -Bürgermeister Hansel Klein" Are you brave enough to answer the ominous call, and fight the icy dangers to keep the 'happy' in 'happy holidays'?

About me
Greetings and well met, fearless traveler! From the dark caves of the Sword Coast, to the shimmering shores of Otari; from the depths of cyberpunk dystopia, to a Galaxy Far Far Away, I've been the companion of countless adventurers on their journey to greatness! My campaigns continue to thrill players in game stores, online via VTT, and even within the confines of their own living rooms. All walks of life can safely come together at my games and forget the real world for a few hours. TTRPGs are about hanging out and having collaborative fun; that's exactly what you'll find us doing at my table. Come prepared for one of the most dynamic, interactive roleplay experiences you've ever had! You WILL have a large hand at creating the narrative, with freedom to build and play the character you always wished you could! WHY HIRE ME?: Family Discounts!!! - I'm a family man, so I know it can be hard to separate personal time from family time, but with the family discount you no longer have to! When you join a campaign with your kids, seats for 8-15yo cost only $15 USD, and seats for 16-17yo cost only $20 USD. If you join a campaign with your significant other (gf / bf, husband / wife), you receive at 25% discount on their seat. Family discounts persist for the duration of the campaign, so the entire family can roll dice and break some heads, without you breaking bank! ENOURMOUS Library - I'm truly a GAME master, fluent in over a dozen different systems including: DND 5e, Pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulu, Cyberpunk RED, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Classic Traveller, Fallout the RPG, The Dishonored RPG, The Dresden Files RPG, Ironsworn, and the list just keeps going. Shoot me a message to hire me to run any of the listed games, or to inquire about a game I haven't listed. Full Immersion - My worlds are complete sandboxes that you can live in, potentially for years. There are endless possibilities during a campaign, but even the campaign is just a hook, because once you've beaten it, you may continue questing in that same world, creating new goals, and dealing with the consequences of the previous campaign. The cycle is addictive, and perfect for anyone craving true escapism. Solo and Duo Mode! - Have you ever wanted to TRULY be the main character? To play in a story fully centered on YOU? At MOST tables, your character will be just one of 4-6 other powerful heroes, but in single player or two-player mode, it's only YOU and your choices that decide the outcomes. Become the main character, truly be "The One". Not only will you have my FULL attention as the game master, allowing me to tailor-make your experience, but you also get to play a much more powerful character than typical. If you want to feel as immersed as possible, then hop in solo or with a friend, and see what unfolds! Tucsonan - I live in the Tucson area, and am frequently found at the Isle of Games, where I run live games EVERY MONDAY NIGHT! I'm also available locally to hire for events and conventions! So hit me up, or drop by the Isle of Games any given Monday night, and say hello! Youtuber - Subscribers to my Youtube channel, "Encounter - Mastering Dungeons", receive a 5% discount, so come check it out! I talk TTRPG news, reviews, DM / GM how-tos, and general discussion topics. It's truly a channel for TTRPG fans BY a TTRPG fan, so if you have even a passing interest in this hobby (and I suspect you might!), then you'll find something on the channel that you can enjoy!

Creating your character
Everyone is in charge of making their own 3rd-level character before game time. Bring your character to Session 1, and we'll introduce everyone when your characters all reach Castle Freiburg. You can point buy, use the standard array, or roll for abilities, and can use any player options in the PHB or XGtE. THE ONE RESTRICTION IN CHARACTER CREATION IS THAT YOU MUST USE A HUMAN OR ELF (ANY VARIATION). You can use DND Beyond for your character sheet (recommended), make your character directly in Roll20, or use a physical character sheet. Characters death IS POSSIBLE in this one, so you are encouraged to create a backup character, just in case. If you're not interested in making a character, pre-gens are provided for you to choose from!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
• Bring your own 3rd level DnD 5e character (or use one of my pre-generated characters!) All official D&D 5e content is allowed. IN-PERSON GAMES: •Bring your dice and snacks! ONLINE GAMES: • Make a free account on Roll20.net (link for game will be sent prior to session). • Make a free Discord (a link to my server will be sent prior to session, game info will be posted there). • MICROPHONE REQUIRED. (I suggest testing the connection through the settings in discord prior to the game. We will use push to talk to avoid talking over one another and eliminate background noise). • A WEBCAM IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, but is not a requirement. (It's hard to "read the room" as a GM if I can't see facial expressions / cues, but some people don't like to be on camera and that's totally fine). • A solid internet connection (will make your gaming experience much more enjoyable).

How Malcolm The Brewmaster creates a safe table
Players can expect a little mystery, a moderate amount of combat, and a WHOLE lot of spookiness. This module is a Christmas themed horror mystery, set in fantasy Germany, year 1586, planned to last between 3 and 4 sessions. It's aimed at those with beginner - moderate experience with DnD 5e (you should know how to create a character). The two main modes of gameplay are combat and investigating. Players must both survive the icy cold nights (a time during which evil reigns), and find a way to repel the wintery evil before it claims the castle and the city below! Random encounters are frequent, social encounters are vital, and combat is brutal and quick! The Yuletide is only 7 days long, so good luck! This Game is Rated: M for mature | PEGI 18+ | Adult Content Warning: By default, Silent Night has "Strong Themes" and frankly depicts: Intense Holiday Horror, Terrorized Children, Intense Violence, Gruesome Death, Insanity, and Occultism | Important Notices: •Plot armor doesn't exist during the Silent Nights, but combat is balanced, fair, and focuses on teamwork to survive. •A note on play style: I like to voice NPCs and roleplay to the fullest and am grateful when players feel comfortable going all the way, but there's NOTHING WRONG with wanting to just slay bandits, rob stores, grab loot, and speak purely in 3rd person. That's cool too. I only have three expectations: 1) treat everyone (including myself) with the same respect that you expect. 2) follow StartPlaying's behavior policy. 3) uphold the general façade of immersion at the virtual "table".
