About the adventure

The Collar and the Fang drops you into a gothic vision of New York City, divided among predators who call the night their own. Five boroughs, each ruled or contested by powerful Kindred, form the stage where your coterie must decide how to survive — and how far you’ll go to seize power of your own. This chronicle blends political intrigue with personal horror. You’ll navigate feeding restrictions, domains tightly controlled by ancient forces, and the constant pull between control and hunger. Every borough hides secrets: Anarch exiles drinking away eternity on Staten Island, apex predators stalking the rooftops of Queens, old money Giovanni pulling strings in the Bronx, and the suffocating grip of the Camarilla in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The shadow of the Camarilla’s ancient treaties, like the Promise of 1528, still hangs over the city — shaping alliances, obligations, and grudges centuries old. This is a game for players who crave story over mechanics, where your choices ripple across the city and shape the fates of others. Expect tense negotiations, whispers of betrayal, and nights where the Beast threatens to claw free. Violence is never far away — but survival often comes down to words, alliances, and the debts you’re willing to bind yourself to. Whether you’re new to Vampire: the Masquerade or a seasoned player, this game offers a living, breathing world of danger and opportunity. Your character’s story won’t unfold in isolation; multiple coteries of players walk the same streets, casting shadows that may cross or collide with yours. The city reacts to every choice, every alliance, every betrayal — and the ripples spread far beyond your own table. In the end, the only certainty is this: in New York City, every drop of blood has a cost.

About me

I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs for about 25 years and GMing for 15. I’ve run lots of different games over the years, but some of my favorites to run are Vampire: The Masquerade, Shadowrun, Blades in the Dark, Avatar Legends and the Stargate RPG. I really enjoy crafting stories that keep players hooked and making sure everyone has a great time at the table.

Character creation

Creating your character

I love being part of the character creation process, and I’d ideally like characters fully fleshed out before Session 0. This way, the group can introduce themselves, establish connections, and hit the ground running as they enter New York together. Your coterie will already share some form of prior relationship, giving you a foundation to build on from the very first scene. All clans are on the table. While some may traditionally side with the Camarilla or the Anarchs, your Kindred does not need to follow those expectations. Your choices define who you are — and how you’ll shape the city.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Each group will have their own dedicated channel on my Discord server for out-of-game discussion and coordination. Sessions will be hosted through Google Meet for a smooth, face-to-face experience. Key details — including NPC information, faction notes, and each coterie’s relationship map — will be maintained on Roll20, where everything is updated and saved for easy reference whenever you need it.

What Jake brings to the table

You can expect a story-first experience where the focus is on character choices, political maneuvering, and the personal horror of being Kindred. I use strong NPC personalities so you’ll always know who you’re dealing with. The city is fully fleshed out, with detailed boroughs, factions, and major NPCs already in place, giving you a living backdrop to explore and shape. Expect a mix of intrigue, social play, and bursts of violent danger, with every scene designed to keep the tension sharp. Atmosphere matters. I lean into dark, gothic tone-setting with curated music and descriptive imagery. This is less about tactical combat maps and more about immersive storytelling, where every conversation, feeding, and betrayal carries weight. Above all, I provide a reactive world. Your coterie won’t be on rails — the choices you make are yours to make and will ripple outward, affecting other player groups in the city and the NPCs who rule it. You’ll help shape a New York that feels dangerous, alive, and uniquely yours.
