About the adventure
At first, the death of successful archaeologist Kyle Woodson seemed an accident, an automobile crash turned fatal. When certain medical irregularities became apparent, and then the body was quickly cremated, the case became much more sinister to trained eyes... In this adventure, you’ll confront the unsettling mystery of Kyle Woodson. Your investigation will take you across the United States of the 1990s—from the foggy streets of San Francisco and the halls of the Sanbourne Institute of Pacific Antiquities near Los Angeles to the crumbling neighborhoods of modern Arkham. Ultimately, every trail leads to the shadowed depths of ancient Mayan ruins hidden in Central America. The scenario draws upon genuine details of Mayan architecture, culture, epigraphy, and theology, as well as real-world experts in these fields—each subtly adapted to intertwine with the Mythos. Similarly, most of the locations described (with the exception of the Sanbourne Institute and Arkham) are real places, particularly those in Belize, though their portrayal has been shaped for dramatic effect. Free session zero where we will go through table rules/etiquette, expectations, safety rules and brief campaign overview. If there will be time we will create characters as well.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi — I'm Jacek (he/him), your new Game Master! Whether you’re seeking eldritch mysteries, gritty horror, or cozy investigation, I’m here to guide you through compelling stories with heart and tension. I started my adventure in mid 90s when I ran my first games - AD&D 2e and Call of Cthulhu and basically became forever GM as this is what I enjoy most about roleplaying. I most enjoy and regularly run Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green and Dragonbane. There are other games that spark my interest though - Arkham Horror RPG, Chill, DCC, Degenesis, Mutant Chronicles, Old School Essentials, Public Access, Symbaroum, The Between, The Laundry 2e, The Old World, Vaesen. I got a dog called Migo.

Creating your character
We can create characters during session zero but we can also utilize Discord chat before that so the group can find some common ground and start actual game quicker. Due to themes obviously characters connected to archeology would be best.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using Foundry and Discord and I will provide links to both before. No knowledge of Foundry is needed. I strongly encourage use of webcams to make game as close to actual one with face to face interactions.
What Jacek brings to the table
Although I try to run game by the rules I am for rule of cool. If any rule is standing in a way of good story or players actions and any change is reasonable - I'm all for it. I will try to utilize all the good things Foundry can do but in the end it is theatre of the mind game not a computer game. Don't expect to see visual aid for everything happening in the game. I will reuse handouts provided within campaign book and where needed and if time lets me I will try to do my own takes on those. I do my own music and will try to utilize this for audio backgrounds.
Homebrew rules
I suggest players not spend whole skill point pool during character creation and spend them as we progress so the characters will fit better with what will be happening. I allow for character adjustments in skills if any choice made at the beginning turns out to be totally unusable.

Safety
How Jacek creates a safe table
I use Safety Tools Foundry module so those are built in into Foundry game I will set up. Those are easy to use and always at hand for players to utilize. This is a horror game with scary moments and all but there will be no sexual content here (and I strongly suggest players to not push it). I don't expect any scary stuff to be really uncomfortable if you are into general horror.
