About the adventure

Your skills are nova hot, and your street name is legend, but how long will it be before you start slipping? How long until you're geeked by that single threat you didn't see coming? Assuming you don't get a knife in the back first, chummer. You know the score. Life in the Shadows is just a terminal countdown. So you decided to take one last Run. A Heist for the ages. Two years and seven teams working all across the globe to snag a treasure worth billions of Nuyen. It was a dream, a fairy tale, but you managed to pull it off, and you're one of the few survivors. But now comes the hard part. Now you have to survive until you can get paid. You've pissed off some of the most powerful forces in the Sixth World. No choice but to lie low. Thankfully, your Fixer has been working seven steps ahead of the opposition. You've bounced through a network of safehouses and smuggling rings to disguise your trail, and now you've finally arrived at the final hide out: a secret bunker complex hidden beneath a front and a whole slew of shell-corps in Chicago. You arrived in July, 2055. Just before the Bugs tried to take the city. Congratulations, Chummer! Now you're trapped in the Chicago Containment Zone along with about 2 million other unlucky fraggers, not to mention all those monstrous bug-spirits that have managed to claw their way into your reality. What's a 'runner in hiding to do? Will you put those nova-hot skills to use? Will you risk exposure to protect the innocent, or is the team all that matters? Just what are you willing to risk, what are you willing to give, and what are you willing to take? Your billion nuyen payday is two years away, but for all the Bugs and horror, the Chicago CZ is also full of opportunity. Semi-abandoned Corpo vaults. The Mafia, Yaks, and Triad at each other's throats. Ares and the UCAS military flashing the latest gear. For those with the sense for biz, there's still plenty of wealth to be made. But is Nuyen all that matters? Well, the choice is yours, Chummers, and that's the chip truth. Summary: This is a Shadowrun living sandbox campaign set in 2055. The focus is on the choices that your characters make, and why they make them, and how the world responds. You'll be playing Shadowrunners at the top of their game, and we'll be using :Otherscape as the system to help us tell this story. If you like character driven narratives, ethical dilemmas, and are ready to face the horror of the Sixth World, this might be the game for you!

About me

Hello, I'm Cayce Corday, and I'm a writer, game designer, and long time GM. I've been playing TTRPGs for over 15 years, playing and GMing as often as I can. I've learned a lot of lessons over the years about what works well with a group, and what mistakes to avoid. I use Lines and Veils, as well as the X Card to help ensure the table remains a safe place for everyone. I also make use of Session Zero(es) to help foster collaboration. Because really, that's the key. Everyone at the table working together to tell an incredible story that would never have been told alone. The dice also add a dash of spice with the chaos they introduce.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll make use of interactive Session 0s to set up the Sandbox and provide all the information you need to make your character. The character creation in :Otherscape is extremely flexible, and a whole range of character options that are usually not available in most Shadowrun games will be open for play.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a working internet connection, a working microphone/headset, and a Discord account. Everything else will be provided. There will be VTT, but there will be no video-chatting due to how it affects connection. Session Zeroes will be free!

What Cayce brings to the table

I'll be using Foundry for our Virtual Table Top, and will be providing all the required books and materials. This campaign will be very character focused, and setting focused. The narrative will arise from the choices the players make, and how the world responds. Be prepared to compromise and collaborate with your fellow PCs. As a table, we'll all be working together to tell an engaging, fun story.

Homebrew rules

We will review rules and all character creation info during our Session Zero.

Safety

How Cayce creates a safe table

Our safety tools will include: Session 0s, X Cards, and Lines and Veils. We'll establish our Lines and Veils in our first Session 0 and will record them in our shared campaign document. For instance, the large list of content warnings below are all found in the Shadowrun setting, but our lines and veils will ultimately trim that list so that it is perfectly matched to our group and our campaign together. X Cards can be expressed through the VTT, chat, or Verbally. We will also make use of breaks, and debriefings to make sure that everyone is ok and having a good time.
