About the adventure
Any fan of the Wizarding World has inevitably thought of how fun it would be to get to have your own Hogwarts Experience, and now that is possible! Join me as we run a Harry Potter themed d&d campaign, where you will play as your own custom Hogwarts student! The campaign can start at any point in the canon series' timeline you would prefer, with the earliest start being Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, and latest start being Deathly Hallows. And your adventuring party will have your own adventurers, as well as be able to affect the events of the main Harry Potter story! Some things will have to remain unchanged to make sure the plot continues (Harry's name gets put into the Goblet of Fire, Voldemort returns, etc.), but many things can be changed by your actions. Plus, all characters from the cannon will be interactable, so you may be able to change some characters' fates! Whether its crafting potions, playing Quidditch, earning points for your Hogwarts House, learning spells or uncovering mysteries, plenty of wizarding adventures await you in this campaign!

About me
Hey I'm Storm! I started running D&D games a few years ago and instantly was hooked by how fun, creative and impactful these stories we create together can be. Now, running games for people is one of my biggest passions in life! In my games player experience is my #1 priority. Inclusivity and Safety are paramount at my table, so before starting a campaign we'll run through a Session 0 making sure everyone is on the same page and comfortable! I homebrew pretty much everything in my games, so if you have any idea for your character, or want to try mixing some abilities from different classes/races I'm always down to make things work. Plus, I can provide as much of a baseline for campaigns as needed, but will be primarily tailoring the story of the campaign to my players' backstories and motivations. While your decisions and actions certainly matter, if you play in one of my games the world will quite literally revolve around you! All kinds of players are welcome! I've dm'd for people who have never heard of d&d before, as well as people that have been playing and dm-ing for years. As far as DM Style, I definitely fall into the "Rule of Cool" archetype, where I tend to default to the rules as written, but if you come up with something really fun or interesting that'll certainly take priority. My sessions tend to be pretty Roleplay heavy as well, and even though I'm not the best at voice acting I definitely try to have lots of NPCs with fun and memorable personalities. Thanks for considering me, and I'm excited to maybe create a story together sometime! <3

Creating your character
For Character Creation, this will change depending on what we all discuss during the Session 0, but depending on where you would like to start: Based on your starting Hogwarts Year will give the range for what character level you can expect to be: Years 1-2: Levels 1-2 Years 3-4: Levels 3-6 Year 5-6: Levels 7-9 Year 7: Level 10 Additionally, I like to meet with each player individually to iron out character details so I can tailor the story to what you want to experience. For stats players can roll for them, and if they roll poorly I have a set number of stats they can choose instead if they prefer. And all of this will be through D&DBeyond, since I've made a whole custom Spell system based on the Harry Potter series, as well as Classes/Subclasses.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A Microphone is required for this campaign since we'll be using Discord. If you'd like to have a Webcam/Camera that's great too, but it's certainly not required. I will have my facecam on for all sessions to help with descriptions/roleplay though. Also, making a D&DBeyond account beforehand would be great, but if you are unfamiliar I can assist with account creation.
What Storm brings to the table
We will use D&DBeyond for this campaign, and for combat it will be a mix of OwlbearRodeo for custom battle maps, and theater of the mind. Each session I'll also be playing background music to fit the mood for each scene. As far as what to expect from me as the DM, I will definitely be doing all sorts of silly voices and impressions for the characters, since for this campaign many of the characters already have iconic speech patterns we all know and love. As a DM I typically default to the Rule of Cool and want to reward really fun/creative player choices, rather than have the rules as written override everything, but it changes depending on the scenario. But again, the Session 0 will be huge for this campaign, since we'll have plenty to iron out as far as what you all want from this setting!
