About the adventure

Come experience Planescape on Sundays. Far from Faerun at the edge of the known world sits the Outer Planes and at each Gate to the Deific Outer-Plane rests a Bordertown built up around the Gate. The kaleidoscope of shifting lands between Bordertowns is called the Outlands and inb the center of the Outlands, is the multidimensional hub City called Sigil. Our adventure starts of here, in Sigil City as the characters find themselves thrust into an unraveling mystery that has them exploring from Sigil City to the Chaotic Outlands and beyond. This game is great for players that want to have fun with character creation, have lots of room to explore a sandbox world of zany characters, deadly technical combat and a highly creative world of maps and fun locations.

About me

My name is James and Pintado is my nickname,… call me either and you’ll get a smile back from me. i am an enthusiastic artist expressing themselves through all things deemed nerdy. I Game master, role-play, draw and dream fantasy all day, most days. I love co-creating epic stories of adventure, intrigue and suspense with other players, interweaving a balanced experience of compelling story, battle strategy and rewarding drama. I really enjoy helping others express themselves through tabletop games. I try and create a space for thoughtful character creation where players can craft as deep or merely functional character as they choose. I seek to balance the dynamics of a multi person table so all participants can find what they are looking for in a shared creative experience. In real life, I am a teacher and a performer and those skills come through in experiences I facilitate. I love helping new players find their way while creating interactive and entertaining content for “our” table. I see this all as a group experience and prefer to be an ally to the adventurers as opposed to being their opponent. Lastly, everybody is welcome at my table. I expect all players to be kind and work to co create an amazing experience together, full of mutual respect and cooperation. Let’s get together and create some magic!!!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will talk about character creation in our text channel once we have joined the game. I have most of the official and third party content for creating characters for this game. I will be using content sharing in this campaign through DndBeyond. The nature of this Planescape Campaign will have us create third level characters to start, with starting equipment and an uncommon magic item of your choice. Before getting too far into dreaming up a single character, know that we will be using an optional rule where we will create not one, but three characters. This Glitch Feature has it so each Player will control not just a single form, but three incarnations. These incarnations/characters all share the same level and advance at the same time but they can otherwise be as different or as similar as each player wishes. The characters might use completely different character class options, they might be very different species or the could have only the slightest difference in cosmetic appearance. This allows each player to be as creative or as simple as they choose in the creation process. A player plays only one Incarnation at a time, switching incarnations when a character dies. But characters don't actually die, instead players get to cycle through their three characters in this high stakes and deadly world of Fiends and Celestials, Automatons and Awakened Tigers, Time Dragons and Cranium Rats. I will have all the books necessary to play and will share them with you so you can have a fun, low stress time creating the three characters we'll start the game with. No need to have any books of your own. Please allow me to present the information needed for the game and do not read the Planescape books. In the past I have allowed standard array, point buy and rolled attributes on DnDBeyond, we can decide as a group if we want to exclude or add any other options. We will have a session zero where we can as a group create lines and veils surrounding content for our game at that time we can talk about character ideas and make characters together, or we might have already made characters on your own. Again either option is acceptable.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Know that this game is bi-weekly and must run on alternate weeks from DM"S existing commitment. Once enough players have joined we will be playing on alternating Sundays. (example 11-2, 11-16, 11-30) All you will need is to wait for the link to the discord channel. Once there, you will find another way to message me as your GM. Links to the free accounts you will need will be provided there and no Foundry/DnDBeyond?Discord purchases are necessary to play. Just come with appetite for fun voices, tactical battles and loads of character options.

What GM James Pintado brings to the table

You only need a computer capable of running Foundry, a free to you browser based virtual table top program. You'll need a working mic, in a quiet location with reliable internet connection. I will send a link to a discord account that we will use for communication during and outside of our game. It will host the audio channel we will use for sound with our game as well as text and message channels for out of gaem communication. It will be stocked with all the necessary links to play, the character creation (DnDbeyond) site we'll use, the table top we'll use for battles (Foundry) and a Lore text channel with information about the locations and characters in the game.

Homebrew rules

We will add any homebrew rules we like during our ssssion zero. I also have a system for gaining game points for players writing game recaps and other game tasks to gain points. Points are spent on heroic inspiration or banked for feats, Ability score increases or even level ups.

Safety

How GM James Pintado creates a safe table

We will meet in a text channel and once we have enough players we will begin with a session zero. There we will determine lines and veils, but it should be known I run a "No T.R.A.S.H." table. No Transphobia, No Racism, No Ableism, No Sexism and No Homophobia. If we can imagine dragons we can image a world with less real world hate. Other than that, we can all curate together if we want to add other subjects to skip completely (Lines) or minimize details on (Veils). That subject matter is created in the session zero but can be added to throughout our time together as a campaign. Lastly every session ends with a star and wishes moment where players can voice things they liked or disliked in a game and what them might like to see more influencing future sessions. I use this tool and an open door policy on my discord messages to make sure players can voice things that come up that might bother or challenge them.
