About the adventure
The game is based on Ancient Irish myths and legends - drawing heavily from both the mythological - and Ulster cycles, explore the ancient realm of pre-Celtic and Celtic Ireland. Monsters and adversaries will be drawn from Ireland, Scotland, and Welsh bestiaries. This includes heavy inclusion of the Fae. New players are encouraged to join, and experienced Savage Worlds players are welcome as well. This is a novice to legendary campaign that would be meant to last for a long time. Not only will you play in a rich mythological environment, but you may learn something about the myths of Ireland. (Game play, like the movies, may take creative liberties with certain known social and historical elements of this period in Irish History/Myth. Though inspired by myth, narrative will deviate wildly from known sources. i.e. no one gets to play Fionn mac Chumaill or Cu Chullain. Magic is allowed but anything "cleric" is subsumed as "Druid". We will use the Pathfinder Savage World rule set with some class modifications. Druids and Bards work well in this milieu.

About me
I have been playing RPG's since the early days of the D&D (basic) red box in the late 70's and have played continuously since that time. Most of my time has been spent as a GM as I love the idea of world building. Each game I run is the result of research (I have an M.A. in Medieval History), careful development of a history of each nation in my worlds. I used Inkarnate to produce detailed maps of cities, countries and regions that I utilize to increase immersivity. My philosophy is that the game isn't 'mine'. It is an exercise is collaborative storytelling where the players have complete autonomy over the outcome (it just may not be the outcome they expected!). I provide the setting, the story, and the adjudication through the rule set. I firmly believe in a strong narrative element, with a less than dogmatic approach to the rules. I can be happy to bend rules for something 'cool'. Also, I try to avoid character death if at all possible, as it is generally not fun for players. However, doing something stupendously stupid OR heroic can result in death. In over 40 years of GM-ing, I have presided over only two TPKs, both of which were caused by parties making monumentally awful choices that I warned them about.

Creating your character
Character creation will be discussed and implemented in session zero, possibly along with a short introductory character meet and greet scenario. Characters can be created offline and submitted to the GM for verification. Cheaters never prosper. Random audits of character advancement may be implemented if there is evidence of shenanigans.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Zoom or Discord access. Hoping to switch to a VTT server in near future. Still researching various platforms for ease of use. Maps, where applicable, will most often be presented from Inkarnate. Please be aware that this game will utilize certain rules from Savage Worlds Pathfinder but will not be dependent on having any of the books.
What Dan brings to the table
Heavy emphasis on narrative and character development. Expectation of nerd culture quotes and references. Rules lawyers need not apply. This is meant to be friendly and casual, it's supposed to be fun after all. Whereas sarcasm is encouraged when appropriate, bullying or abusing other players can result in being removed from teh game.
Homebrew rules
Homebrew rules will focus on narrative elements more than specific rules. Other homebrew rules the GM may make based on group consensus or as a work around for something clunky (such as savage worlds chase rules). Milieu specific mechanics such as taboos and geas, a social standing mechanic that measures fame or infamy will have dramatic impact on game play at times.

How Dan creates a safe table
Session Zero will include a trigger questionnaire that will determine content presented. Some items will be non-negotiable. Homophobia will not be tolerated in any form. Religion will play a part in the game, but it will be outside Judeo-Christian tenets. Players engaging in unwanted or abusive sexual situations will be nuked. GM will be open for discussion of triggers having been contravened or other perceived infractions as well as other ideas, thoughts, and feedback.
