About the adventure

You and your fellow players will be sailors who've yet to make an name for themselves and have been given the chance of a lifetime! Becoming proper officers aboard a vessel of a legendary sailor! However you find your Capitano to be a creaky old bag who refuses to help and your vessel "The Inheritance" seems to be more deathtrap than legendary tree trawler. But he has basically given you full command, so you can order around the undercrew, choose your own missions and adventures and even customize the ship to suit the needs of your journey. It seems like this journey is less learning opportunity and more like a dangerous moving proving grounds! I adore the setting of the Wildsea and I wanted to tell a tale about finding your place in it's wild world. This campaign is home brewed and player driven in it's plot, so your game will be custom to your party! I want to be as open to newcomers as possible and I will be hosting a session 0 to teach you how to play and help familiarize players with the

About me

Hey! I'm Nishaant! I've been playing Roleplaying games for my whole life and properly Game mastering for 12+ years! I'm a game designer, writer but I am best known as a storyteller and there's nothing I love more than weaving a wonderful tale for my friends at the table! I've played quite the swathe of different systems and games and I'm always looking for new and interesting games to pick up, anything with a strong system/storytelling core I can get down with.

Character creation

Creating your character

I will be teaching the game during session 0 and I want to encourage players to make their characters during that session and then hammer out the details before session 1 comes around. I like starting character creation all together because it helps everyone feel like they fit in as a part of the party! I do want people to have plenty of time to develop and think about their role so I didn't want to limit character creation to just the session 0. (especially if there's a lot of newcomers as teaching the game would take some precedence)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I am prepared to teach the game to players who have never played Wildsea or any other Forged in the Dark game so I'll handle most of the prep. (I even have the official character sheets in both printer friendly and digital!) I would love it if y'all would find time to read up about The Wildsea, or watch a video about it. More understanding about the setting and system will only add to your enjoyment! Check it out: https://youtu.be/a_fwTSgBkls?si=JJfGZkLtlbl3Jvkz I host my sessions on a Discord Server so you will need an account + internet and at least a microphone. (a webcam is preferred but not mandatory)

What Nishaant brings to the table

I love running games in the theater of the mind, and embrace the rule of cool openly because I think it's best when it comes to immersion, the less windows and interfaces you have to deal with the better! I try to keep things as fluid as possible so I lean more to the Rule of Cool rather than Rules as Written. I frequently make edits to settings for story purposes but overall I keep things accurate to the system and setting. I also like to make requests of players, getting them more involved with the story by having them name locations or NPCs, prompting them to establish history by asking for character memories in flashbacks, asking them for their plans instead of guiding them along to my predetermined plot. So if you want your RPG to feel like a wide open world that still feels personal and personable, I'm your guy!

Safety

How Nishaant creates a safe table

I take safety pretty seriously, I create and fill out a Lines and Veils document and send the link out to the players during the Session 0, which covers how to play, setting, safety, and some character creation. I usually have the X cards done in message but I think it might be better if the players can hold up the cards. Also before every session I make sure to tell players if there might be some upsetting content coming up and ask if they're comfortable with that. Post session I always run a debrief with players to help with bleed and to go over any concerns that came up during the session.
