About the adventure

The bellows and howls of the ravenous horde drown out the tropical storm overhead; forked tongues flickering and jaws snapping in anticipation. Slowly they grow quiet, as ‘she’ stands before them. Scales cover her long, slender arms, her yellow eyes ablaze. Dripping fangs extend from her mouth as she speaks. “My children! Your hunger will come to an end… soon, we will swallow the world!” The army of the Serpent Queen marches to war! Fight the advancing bands of ravenous monsters as they pillage their way across the jungle frontier you call home. Defend the various scattered settlements of regular farming folk, dinosaur tamers and jungle druids. Gather together what allies you can; If you can buy enough time, you might just be strong enough to prevent the oncoming massacre! Some of the possible things to look forward to in this campaign: ⚔️ Ride tamed dinosaurs as you travel tangled jungles ⚔️ Stop a malevolent curse turning creatures into insatiably hungry horrors ⚔️ Burn out a growing infestation of insectoid monstrosities ⚔️ Fight a full scale battle pitting the armies of good against the armies of evil The choices you make will determine how the oncoming war unfolds. The odds are stacked against you, can you quell the growing hunger?? About Me: I’m a D&D 5e player and DM with over 10 years of experience. My players are at the forefront of my games, and I’m used to helping newbies learn the ropes as well as tangling with experienced veterans. My table brings chill vibes with professional quality as I keep things fun and relaxed.

About me

Hobbyist performer, writing enthusiast and big time nerd, my greatest joy in life is getting lost in creating epic fantasy worlds with other performative, fantasy nuts. My games are focused on moment to moment character actions, filled with juicy descriptions, fun antics, and a healthy dose of improv. I encourage my players to be creative, to describe what their characters do in detail, and love running games for both new and veteran players alike.

Character creation

Creating your character

- Characters in this campaign begin at 1st level using the 5e 2024 rules. - We'll do character creation during session 0, but feel free to come to the session with some ideas ready to play with. - Characters can be made on DnDBeyond, in a google doc, hand written or however you prefer. I will need a digital copy sent to me, which can be sent as a link to your digital sheet, or simply a photo of a physical one. - Ability scores are determined by either a modified roll 4d6 drop the lowest or standard array. - The character options in FREE Basic Rules on D&D Beyond or The Player’s Handbook will work perfectly, though any options from other published source books will work as well. - 3rd party options are potentially allowed, pending DM approval.

What Caleb brings to the table

Discord Server This will be the hub for our campaign. We’ll keep in contact through chats on the server, share campaign documents, character ideas and generally have a good time. Come game time, we’ll use a voice channel to actually play the game. A wealth of knowledge I’ve been both playing in and running D&D games since 2015, and have a solid understanding of the game rules built from experience. I’ve had many new players in my games, so I am comfortable introducing newcomers. Theatre of the mind, enhanced by virtual maps The majority of our sessions will take place in the wonderful landscapes of our imaginations; detailed, engaging descriptions and character voices bringing everything to life. I’ll use virtual battlemaps occasionally, using Owlbear Rodeo, to provide visual references during fights. Wicked descriptions and voices I’m by no means a Matt Mercer, but I love getting weird with character voices. You’ll get interesting and memorable npcs, and villains and monsters that are terrifying but exciting. A space to create I’ll present a world for the table to explore, but I want your input to. If you’ve got an idea for something you’d like to add to the game, let’s see how we can work it in. I love it when my players come to me with fresh ideas to add, it’s what makes the game that much better. Empathy and care This game is so much fun because you, yourself, actually get to be in an awesome fantasy setting, going on epic quests. Sometimes though, putting yourself out there can be a daunting task, especially in front of new people. At my table you will get a support and encouragement to explore and have fun, to the level that you are most comfortable with.

Safety

How Caleb creates a safe table

Please read the following below, to see if this table is right for you: My table is for people 18+. The game will include adult content, including blood and violence. There will be swearing at the table. The following content is not allowed at the table: - explicit sexual content (any sexual content will be handled offscreen) - racism - lgbtqia+ phobia - sexism Safety Tools: Session 0 This is a pre-game session, dedicated to getting to know each other, going over safety tools and rules at the table, learning about the world of the campaign, and then making characters together (please come with ONLY a rough concept for your character, so we can create one that fits best for this campaign specifically). Lines and Veils: During the session 0, we'll discuss what topics are and are not ok to discuss in our campaign. We'll let each other know the things that each of us are comfortable discussing at the table, and what we're not comfortable with. I'll keep a list of all our topics updated in our campaigns discord channel for everyone to see. Breaks We’ll have one break during the session for roughly 10-15 minutes, aiming to take it roughly halfway through the session. Open door policy If at any point something happens during the campaign that makes you feel uncomfortable, you can always present your concerns to me, whether during or outside a session. Debriefing After each session, I’ll hang around on the call for 15-20 minutes to chat about the session and just unwind. This will also be the perfect opportunity to discuss what we did and didn't like during the session, and whether there’s anything we need to change.
