About the adventure
This adventure is part of a special Roll20 event! After a letter from your grandpa, Rupert Merriweather, warned you of his approaching demise, you knew you had to keep to your promise of coming to visit him. Maybe for true love and mourning for the old man, or, maybe, because of the suspicion you hold of his possible relationship with the occult. He did promise to tell you about his past, after all, and there was something important he needed to reveal today. Your cousins all came for this visit. The ones you care about, anyways. Those who share your interests for the bizarre and the eldritch, who played the Ouija with you when you were younger, and who are about to play a much more dangerous game with you now. You've never felt truly connected to the occult before, nothing you ever did felt real, not as real as the look in your grandpa's eyes… Those wide eyes that have seen something beyond comprehension, and that drown the memory of it every day. He has seen the truth, don't you deserve to see it too? Edge of Darkness is an introductory module for Call of Cthulhu. And though its name was surely chosen to generate intrigue and fear, it does sound like an edgy teen's OC's magic weapon, doesn’t it? This thought stuck to me, kept me up at night, and so I realized… What better way to play an edgy adventure, than with teen/young adult characters? Begone professional investigators of the occult! This adventure must be completed not by you, but by the undeveloped prefrontal cortexes that live among us! By those of us that have zero concept of what they are doing! Those who would chuckle, nay, let out air from their nostrils from reading “Edging in the Dark”! Behold! The characters in this adventure are not seasoned investigators, but instead the grandchildren and younger family of Rupert Merriweather, who has called upon you for your help for a very special reason...

About me
I've been a DM ever since I first got into the concept of a RPG, and being able to be a whole world and let people interact with it and shape it has always been an amazing experience. It's an incredible way to channel a creative drive into a productive and social medium. I have an ongoing D&D campaign that has gone for a year and a half now. I've run fantasy, sci-fi, horror, adventure, open-world, oneshots and full campaigns. I started out in a play-by-post style of game, which then evolved to me creating many, many homebrew systems to run physically with my friends, testing out the style of game before compromising to any specific system. Today, D&D is my go-to, but experimenting and tweaking always leads me to a new system every so often, be it mine or someone else's. Over all, if you want a patient DM who loves a strong villain and underdog characters, there's surely a spot for you with me.

Creating your character
If you read the Game description, then you know what's up. The characters are teenagers or young adults who are blood-related in some way to Rupert Merriweather, and interested in his spooky secrets. Characters should be created before the first session, and feel free to send the sheet to me for review in my DMs or in the Discord when you join if you want me to review it. If you don’t want to make a sheet though, I’ll provide you with a pre-made one for you to pour a personality into, but it is preferable that you create your own character. Avoid min-maxxing if possible, these are supposed to be funky teens, not seasoned experts, but if it makes enough sense within your character concept, do have fun with your skills. Don't worry about equipment, except for a few things you really want your character to have. The adventure begins in the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts, USA, in the summer of 1923. This is where Rupert lives, meaning your characters either live here or very likely have at least spent some time in the town. Make sure to have your character have a personal connection to Rupert in some way. Maybe he taught you how to use a radio to detect ghosts, or his stories are what kept you up at night when you were a kid. The closest your character is to him, the better.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have an account on Discord and Roll20. Also, make sure you have a room where you can't hear the other people in your house (if there are) and where you won't be interrupted by them. Then prepare... for spooky! You'll need to join a Discord server and a Roll20 Campaign, which I will send to you in private.
What Jade Rossus brings to the table
I love doing character voices, using ambient music, sound effects and other small things that make an adventure come alive. I have maps, pre-made character sheets and a ton of love for RPGs that I will pour into this game. I am a big fan of Rule of Cool and implement it often, the game was built to be cool, right? But, sometimes, when you're chest deep in a hole you keep sinking, and you're grasping everywhere for a way out, coolness may not save you...
