About the adventure

Along the shore the cloud waves break, The twin suns sink behind the lake, The shadows lengthen In Carcosa. Strange is the night where black stars rise, And strange moons circle through the skies But stranger still is Lost Carcosa. Songs that the Hyades shall sing, Where flap the tatters of the King, Must die unheard in Dim Carcosa. Song of my soul, my voice is dead; Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed Shall dry and die in Lost Carcosa. Join us desperate wanderers, join us as we skulk through the haunting landscapes of Carcosa. A hexcrawl set upon the planet beyond the Hyades Cluster. Players will set out to find lost alien technology, vast foul rituals that will shape the planet, and relics of the Old Ones. You are one of many creatures who roam, Chromatic men, Ape men, Robots, Deep Ones and many others. With courage, wit and perhaps a touch of desperation, you can overcome the ancient horrors of this land. Take on the Megadungeons such as the Black Pyramid, the ruined City of Sol, or the super science madness of the Anomalous Subsurface Environment and Kihago! Attempt to make your own settlement, join one of the many warlords who rule Carcosa... or make your own army and crush them. Or simply take in the sights, and explore the alien landscape around you. But above all, Survive.

About me

My name is Morgan, I’m 30 years old and I have been GMing since I was 12 years old. A Veteran at the Local Library club taught me the joys of Dungeons and Dragons and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m incredibly passionate about this hobby, and strive to put as much fun, and effort into my adventures as I can. I have quite a bit of affection for the OSR style of play. As not only is it a solid and dependable style of play; but it also brings me back to those days of sketching out endless labyrinthian dungeons in my notebook, seeing the Mines of Moria for the first time or marveling over the relics and treasures of the Legend of Zelda players manuals. There are mysteries in the dark and I do so enjoy delving into their depths. With this in mind, I wished to extend the opportunity to players to join me on these adventures of daring do and glittering gold!

What Morgan Marshall brings to the table

I am a man who loves it when players get invested into a game, be it through mechanics or engaging with the world wholesale. I enjoy acting out characters, bringing ambient music and providing a solid adventure for my players. I also provide maps and tokens for the journey, along with all pdf books and rules for easy access and reference.

Homebrew rules

Recovering HP 1+Con modifier hp per day with bed rest. 1+Con modifier hp per day without bed rest with a successful Con check. Dwarfs recover 1+Con modifier per day without bed rest with no check necessary. They recover 1d4+Con modifier per day with bed rest. They consider taking time off for healing lazy and will not do so unless severely wounded. Negative Con modifiers will cancel out healing or cause loss of hp instead as the wound worsens over time, reflecting infection and general lack of Healing knowledge. Dwarfs are never affected by a negative Con modifier. Healing 1 in 6 for all characters. Specialists may increase the skill normally. A subject may only benefit from healing once per day. Successful use of Healing skill negates Con penalties during healing. Attempts made without specialist's tools have a maximum 2 in 6 chance of success, regardless of skill level (SL). Healing facilities may provide a bonus at the Ref’s discretion. First Aid: takes a single round, either in or out of combat. Heals for 1d4 +Con modifier. Medical Attention: takes a full 10 minute turn. Heals the subject for 1d4 +SL +Con mod. Hospitalization: takes 24 hours. Requires a safe, clean location, and the focus of the person using the Medicine skill. Heals the subject for 1d4 hp + 2xSL +2xCon mod. Ignores Con penalties. A failed roll inflicts 1 hp of damage. Surgery - Requires the use of surgical tools, which cost the same as Specialist tools and at least 2 assistants to hold the patient down. (alcohol is the closest there is to anesthesia) This can be used to deliver babies when a Healing roll is unsuccessful or when the pregnant patient is male. It can also be used to heal 1d4+Skill Points+Constitution modifier Hit points damage on someone for whom the Healing Skill roll has failed. If a Surgery Skill roll fails, the patient dies. Fighters Fight Good Rules Cleave Whenever a fighter kills or otherwise disables a foe with a melee attack, they may immediately make an additional melee attack against another foe, provided the new foe is within 5 feet reach. A fighter may attempt as many such additional cleaving attacks as his level, minus one (ie, total number of possible attacks is equal to level). Devastating Blows Whenever you land a hit and your modified attack roll is higher than 20, you deal an extra amount of damage equal to your attack roll-20. In addition Berserkers now add their d4 to damage in addition to their attack bonus

Safety

How Morgan Marshall creates a safe table

I am always happy to listen to my players to any concerns they may have, and will make reasonable accommodations when needed. I also am very transparent on what content will be in the game. Additionally I will be modifying the Rituals to be less... seedy. They will still be dark horrific things but they will not be distasteful for a lack of a better term.
