About the adventure

First week is Free. You can join this Play by Post game at any point because it is episodic, lots of entry points, and you join with the same number of experience points as the other players. This game is set in the Old World of the Warhammer system, using the brand new Warhammer Old World Roleplaying system. We will start with a Grim Portent, where you gain the attention of a powerful foe. Perhaps you have stumbled across a secret so dangerous that its architects will stop at nothing to silence you. You may have unintentionally disrupted an intricate plot simply by learning of its existence. You may simply have seen too much to be allowed to live. And from there, you will go on to face perilous foes, defeat deadly danger, gain powerful magic to wield against the enemy - and likely accumulate an assortment of scars and injuries to prove your heroism to anyone who sees you! You are based in Talagaad, a river port town on the edge of Talabheim. You have two contacts from whom you can gain important information, clues and help, as well as certain assets you can draw on. Day by day, night by night, the festering servants of evil grow more daring. By the forsaken light of Morrslieb they praise their nameless gods. Ferocious Beastmen, the true children of Chaos, prowl the woods in ever greater numbers. Orcs and Goblins grow bold once more, spurred on by urges they barely understand and lack the wit to question. Vampires, who some think were driven far from the borders of the Empire, linger still. The cursed blood of Lahmia flows in the veins of more than one secretive noble or bloodthirsty warrior, and their dark hunger is slaked on those whom none will miss.... This adventure is an asynchronous play-by-post adventure. Asynchronous games are played as and when people have the time to play and no more than one person has to be online at the same time. You post at times that work for you and I do the same. Play-by-post is a fantastic way to play a Fantasy adventure when you can't play online or face-to-face. Make a post and read the story as it evolves. By joining the group you agree to post at least once a week, more is better and more fun. As each player posts, the story and the characters evolve. I will tend to post one or more times per day, responsive to how often you post (you post more, I post more...) There is no specific time of the day, or day of the week, when this game is played. You post when you can (at least once per week and hopefully most days), and you can post as much as you like, and I will respond daily (up to several times per day dependent on the setting, combat or character interaction). Play-by-Post is very beginner friendly. We're just telling a story together. But what a story!! The character creation session and process is free.

About me

I've been running roleplaying games since 1980. I'm new-ish to hosting games on-line, but what I may lack in technical expertise on the platform I hope to make up for in enthusiasm and making it fun for you! I play "rule of cool" and I look forward to roleplay with you!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will do character creation over discord, either Play by Post or voice as you wish.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This is a play by post game. We set up your character, I place your character in a setting, you tell me what you're doing, and we go from there! That's all there is to it! Well, obviously not quite. Imagination is an absolutely huge part of this game. We aren't using a virtual table top for play by post. There might be occasional maps, there might be a few illustrations or pictures, but mostly not. Like Warhammer novels about Gotrek and Felix or countless others, this is all about words, descriptions, images in YOUR mind of what they look like. A story that we will write together! The most important part of character creation in this game is your vision of who you want to be. What abilities, skills and talents they have. Their backstory. Their goals. Their aspirations. Their behaviour. Their personality. Their interactions with the large cast of characters they will encounter, please join me on discord at robin002024. I'll send you a discord server link when you join the game. Remember this game is played Play by Post, you can post any time day or night. I "combine" players who signed up for different time slots, to give us up to 5 players.

What Swords and Sorcery brings to the table

I will craft a detailed plot-line full of adventure and colour consistent with the danger and corruption of the Warhammer world. I will bring detailed written descriptions of the dark places you go, the colourful characters you meet, the vile enemies and evil villains and dreadful monsters you encounter and battle desperately and slay heroically. Pictures of enemies, locations or maps will be provided to assist with visuals.

Homebrew rules

this is a brand new system. No homebrew rules are planned but we may need to tweak the rules a little!
