About the adventure

Welcome to the far north! This icy land of windswept tundra recently became locked in a perpetual, dark winter. Auril the Frostmaiden, the divine embodiment of winter's fury, has withdrawn to this cold corner of the world to live among mortals. Further, she has cast a terrible spell over Icewind Dale, to the detriment of most of its denizens. Each night before midnight, Auril takes to the sky on the back of a white roc and weaves her spell, which manifests as a shimmering curtain of light. This powerful magic prevents the next day's sun from rising above the horizon, turning midday into twilight and trapping Icewind Dale in winter's dark embrace, with no sunlight or warmth to melt the snow and ice. Travelers are discouraged from approaching or leaving Icewind Dale, further isolating the region. Icewind Dale has thus been trapped in a different reality from the rest of the world. Come with us on an epic adventure (up to level 11 - we can continue past this with a good party that sticks around), and explore the lands of the north. Will you help Icewind Dale remove the magical forces that create a forever cold, dark, and dreadful experience for the locals? Or will you meet the wrath of the Frostmaiden? Only time will tell as you explore the land to the north. Bring a heavy coat and some good-looking goggles, because we're about to go on an adventure you won't forget. Icewind Dale holds some pretty tough terrain and experiences as we go on this journey. It's time to become a legend of Ten Towns. Are you ready? Because the Frostmaiden is ready to do anything in her power to stop you from messing with her forever-cold home! ====================================== We run weekly games | 3 - 4 hour game | House Rules: - D&D Official Content | D&D Beyond [I have the following] Player's Handbook [2014 & 2024] Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Phandelver and below: The Shattered Obelisk Storm King Thunder Homebrew (we allow some, but only beyond homebrew) Rules as Written (RAW) Start at Level 2 ========================================= YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING: - DISCORD - D&D BEYOND ACCOUNT - ROLL20 ACCOUNT - MICROPHONE WITH DECENT QUALITY ================================

About me

Hello, My name is Chef. I'm a professional Dungeon Master. I've been playing D&D for quite a few years now, and have been DMing on SPG for just over a year now. I really enjoy doing this because I meet interesting people, make new friends, and part of my SPG income goes back to a rescue called Misfit Shepherds. So apart of your weekly session payment goes to helping them get new collars, food, facilities, and much more. They have do a lot for these dogs and i love supporting what they do. Other than playing and DMing for D&D, I also still cook for a living. I work in Nursing and Senior care but i used to do michelin star restaurants and working for the big names in the culinary world. I enjoy my current job more because i have the consistent schedule that allows D&D and I also get to help people who can't really help themselves. A lot of our patients can't live alone and cook a meal. So it's a bit more personal when every plate goes out. I also have German Shepherds myself, 2 actually. Biscuit and Brutus, and you might hear them during a session, but they're pretty good about keeping the barking down during those times. I also study computer programming and just like to keep busy. If you're down for a fun adventure, meeting new people, and exploring a world full of fun and exciting times. You should definitely consider joining one of my tables. I try not to run the same exact module by the books when I do official Campaigns and am always brewing up ideas for one-shots and homebrew campaigns. So come join the fun!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will do character creation before session 0. Post in Intro Section & send chef your backstory Please make sure you follow my build rules (on discord) Starting level will be level 2. (But we start with a pre-session at session 0 - which will be level 1) You will need to have access to our Discord server and have the following: - dnd beyond account - roll20 account - dnd beyond extension (there are a few out there) -Google account (for survey) https://discord.gg/FGmVjTU5ny <--- Discord Server. 1. Server Rules (click the check emoji to continue) 2. Introduction (PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU START) 3. Roles Channel (you need to pick a campaign role to join in) ==== Character Creation (the part your looking for right?): - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1INo23vs929B5fJL5ouaW-5LrYCGbJ58UzG4nWC7lf0E/edit?tab=t.0 Check the build guide. - We go off Point buy system (DO NOT ROLL YOUR STATS) This is not up for debate, everyone uses the point buy in the charactermancer for beyond. - No modifying/homewbrew content. No you cannot mash up things between different classes (multi-class or you don't get that stuff). - No multi-classing til level 3 - Please check the build guide before asking me if you can play "..." - Nobody gets special items, weapons, or anything like that. If i find things that do not belong, i will remove it from your sheet. There's been issues with people trying to get extra stuff at start. - Last, please be patient with me. This is why my startplaying game posts are so lengthy. There's a lot to cover for game night, and it's easier to have it all on here where its easier to access than waiting for me (assuming im at work - taco tues is the hardest day for me to respond on). ======== Once you have done these 3 steps, you should be joined into a campaign. Once you are, please go to general chat (where you should've been pinged to upon selecting a campaign) and greet the party. Chef (me) might be busy at work. Full-time dming requires a really high price on campaigns. I'm not full-time. So please bare with me, I'm doing 30 - 70 hours a week in kitchens. Last step, Check important links in your campaign area to get additional info on the build guide and table rules. If there is no channel, check up near general (same links).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a character idea in mind before session 0. Make sure you understand the basics of D&D. I'm always here to help new players but having some info from reading through SRD & PHB will help things make sense faster. D&D is a bit of a heavy rule game. - Message me once you have joined. We need you to join discord.

What Chef brings to the table

I bring a fun environment, entertaining RP, and combat that will keep you on your toes. I push to make sure all my players are having a great time during their sessions at my table. I'm always looking to challenge my players and help push their backgrounds into the campaigns so that they feel more involved in the world they're playing in.

Homebrew rules

I do allow some homebrew but i try to keep it limited. You can use homebrew that i'll approve only if it's on D&D Beyond. This helps with trying to track it.

How Chef creates a safe table

I have rules in place to make sure no player feels uncomfortable. Stuff like an X card. There are table rules and an agreement that also aids player safety in my games.
