About the adventure

šŸ§™ā€ā™‚ļø Game Description Welcome to Otari, a seaside town where humble beginnings hide legendary secrets and ancient dangers. What starts as a small-town mystery in the Pathfinder Beginner Box adventure ā€œTrouble in Otariā€ soon spirals into a battle against the darkness lurking beneath the waves and ruins — leading directly into The Abomination Vaults, one of Pathfinder’s most acclaimed megadungeon campaigns. This game is designed for new and returning adventurers alike. If you’ve never rolled a d20 before, don’t worry — I’ll guide you through character creation, rules, and tactics step by step, with a free Session Zero to help you build your hero and learn the ropes. Experienced players will find plenty of depth in tactical combat, meaningful skill challenges, and layered storytelling that rewards creativity and teamwork. Our sessions blend cinematic storytelling and tactical encounters, using Foundry Virtual Tabletop for seamless exploration, ambient sounds, and beautiful dynamic maps. Expect fully voiced NPCs, interactive journals, and handcrafted visuals that make the story feel alive. The tone balances high adventure with creeping mystery — one moment you’re sharing a drink at the Crook’s Nook tavern, the next you’re uncovering strange lights pulsing from the ruins of Gauntlight Tower. At my table, I balance Rules as Written for fairness with the Rule of Cool for story impact — if you describe something awesome, I’ll help you make it happen. Each session builds on player choices, ensuring your actions leave a lasting mark on the world. Safety and respect are always the foundation of play, supported by our Kind Voice, X-Card, and RPG Consent Checklist to keep every story heroic and fun. Whether you’re a brand-new adventurer looking for your first quest or a seasoned hero returning to Golarion, this journey from Otari to the Abomination Vaults offers mystery, danger, and discovery in equal measure. Grab your dice, gather your courage, and prepare to light the way — because the Vaults are waiting, and something down there is starting to wake. šŸŒ™

About me

I am the Game Master, and for over 40 years, I've had the privilege of crafting tales that have enthralled players from the very beginnings of Basic D&D to the realms of superheroic fantasy. I've journeyed through the infinite planes of D&D 2e Planescape, where cosmic adventures unfolded in the blink of an eye. I've explored the technology-driven world of Robotech, piloting Vertech mecha through pulse-pounding battles. But my storytelling ventures didn't end there. I've dived into the hum of lightsabers, immersing players in the thrilling universe of epic space sagas. I've witnessed the countless flavors of Dungeons & Dragons, from the realms of high fantasy to the grittier corners of the imagination. And seamlessly, I transitioned into the vast tapestry of Pathfinder, where new tales awaited eager adventurers. Each world I've brought to life is a magnificent mosaic of heart-pounding encounters, moments that tug at the soul, and exhilarating cliffhangers that leave players yearning for more. In my grasp, characters transform into living beings, and players find themselves lost in stories overflowing with pure, unadulterated fun. So come, and join me on this extraordinary journey. Let us explore the vast landscapes of the imagination together, where the boundaries of reality fade away, and the vast expanse of possibility stretches before us. Brace yourself for an adventure like no other, for in my hands, stories unfold, heroes rise, and the power of imagination knows no limits. Together, we'll create moments that will echo through the ages.

Character creation

Creating your character

šŸ§™ Character Creation You’ll have two ways to build your hero, depending on how hands-on you like to be. All players are welcome to join my Foundry VTT server to create characters directly at the game table, with full access to digital tools, compendia, and automation built right in. If you prefer planning ahead, you can also use Pathbuilder 2e to create your character and then import it easily using the JSON code—my Discord has a quick guide that walks you through how to do that. To make sure everyone starts off balanced and confident in their build, I offer a free Session Zero before play begins. During this session, we’ll review character concepts, discuss backstories, go over the campaign tone, and help everyone finalize their stats and gear. It’s also a great time to ask questions about the world, your class features, or how your story ideas can tie into the main narrative. We’ll use standard Pathfinder 2e character-creation rules: Starting Level: 1 Ability Generation: Standard four-boost system (no homebrew rolling) Sources: Core Rulebook and all official Paizo materials are allowed unless I note otherwise for balance or setting reasons. Backstories: Keep them concise but rich—something that fits naturally into the campaign’s starting region. Everything will happen collaboratively so that every character feels connected to the story, the world, and to each other. By the end of Session Zero, you’ll know your allies, your goals, and the tone of the adventure—and we’ll be ready to start rolling dice in earnest. šŸŽ²

What Robert DMRMZ brings to the table

āš”ļø What I Provide My Players When you sit at my table, you’re not just joining a game — you’re stepping into a living world that reacts, remembers, and rewards creativity. My goal is to make every session feel like a story worth retelling. Expect a cinematic blend of atmosphere, voice, and strategy: šŸŽ Character Voices & Storytelling: I bring NPCs to life with distinct personalities and voices — from the trembling goblin trader to the silver-tongued noble — helping players immerse themselves in the world’s emotion and tone. šŸŽ¶ Ambient Sound & Music: Foundry is filled with curated ambient tracks, weather effects, and scene-based music to set the mood — tense strings in battle, soft tavern chatter by firelight, and the hum of divine power in ancient ruins. āš”ļø Tactical but Fair Combat: Battles are quick, intense, and tactical — using Pathfinder 2e’s grid-based depth to create meaningful positioning and teamwork moments. Every fight tells a story; every crit has weight. šŸ”„ Rule of Cool Meets Rules as Written: I value fairness and clarity, but I’ll bend the rules when it makes the story shine or lets someone have a truly epic moment. If you earn it through great roleplay or clever strategy, expect cinematic payoffs. šŸ¤ Player Spotlight & Inclusion: Everyone gets a turn to shine — whether that’s through heroics, clever plans, or quiet character moments. I balance encounters so every class and playstyle feels meaningful. Between sessions, players can explore journals, lore, and handouts on the Foundry server, and use Discord for downtime scenes or roleplay that enriches the story. My table is about collaboration and discovery — not just defeating monsters, but uncovering the legends behind them. If you bring your imagination, I’ll provide the world to make it real. 🌟

Safety

How Robert DMRMZ creates a safe table

šŸ›”ļø Safety & Comfort at the Table My tables run on trust, creativity, and respect — because the best adventures happen when everyone feels safe to explore and take heroic risks together. Even when the story dives into dark ruins or dangerous choices, our table stays bright and welcoming. 🧩 The Tools We Use 🟩 X-Card (Built into Foundry & Discord): If anything ever feels uncomfortable or crosses a personal line, simply tap or mention the X-Card. The scene will pause, fade, or shift focus — no questions asked. šŸ“ RPG Consent & Comfort Checklist: Before or during Session Zero, players can review and complete the Consent in Gaming Form to set boundaries, themes, and tone preferences. šŸ‘‰ Consent in Gaming Form (Monte Cook Games PDF) https://mcpl.info/sites/default/files/images/consent-in-gaming-form-fillable-checklist-2019-09-13.pdf šŸ—£ļø Kind Voice: This is my table’s core safety rule. If something feels off or too heavy, just say so — kindly and directly, in voice, chat, or a private message. I’ll adjust immediately and without judgment. šŸ’¬ My Promise as a GM I’ll always listen first, respect every boundary, and make sure the story stays fun, fair, and inclusive. Our world may challenge heroes with darkness, but our table remains a safe place to play, imagine, and grow together. 🌟
