About the adventure

This will be an introduction into Pathfinder 1e for new players. It will take place in a semi-sandbox environment that has been custom made by me to offer plenty of possibilities and opportunities for world-building. You'll start out as level 1 adventurers and let the winds of your imagination take you from there. I'll have a few starter quest options and your team can decide what to do from there. Session 0 will also be free That way, you can join up, feel out the room, and decide if you wish to continue before committing. :)

Character creation

Creating your character

We will hold a session 0 to create characters and introduce the world. As well as answer any questions needed before we start. Once we have completed characters, we will take some time to introduce those characters into the world. Some minor notes, Summoners will not be allowed. No hate, I've just had them multiple times in-game and they usually tend to cause issues, mechanically. Third party content will have to be vetted by me, not because I don't like it, but, because I want to make sure it will be playable for you. There are also some custom races that I want to introduce to my players, you may want to hear those out before settling on anything.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll want to join my discord server. That's what we will be using for voice chat. Other than that, we will be playing mostly "theater of the mind" (ie, not using a vtt, just imagination) Unless I need a battlemap for something particularly complex. Then I have something set up for that to where you won't need to sign up for anything.

What Stephan Wood brings to the table

Most of the details will be covered in Session 0, but, here's the rundown. I have a basis for ruling alignments to prevent abusive shenaniganary (that's not a real word >.>). Meaning that its harder for people to railroad the game by making a scene and proclaiming "That's what my character would do" *eyeroll*. I have a fair and measured method for bouncing between characters when in social environments, so that no one feels left out. In this method, it allows pacing for more subdued players to feel their way into the scenario. I allow everyone 1 tear per session. The tears are tokens that the players can use to have themselves or an ally re-roll a d20 roll, again, details in Session 0. This is on top of over 20 years of storytelling experience in such environments. While still running games with some of the same players to this day.

Homebrew rules

Again, details will be discussed in Session 0. However, here's the rundown. Inspiration is used in every format I play, not just 5e D&D. I call them my tears. Darkvision is always utilized as vague, black and white sight. If a rule is causing the game to not be fun for a majority of my players, I will probably change it for that purpose. You're enjoyment is my main concern. Most skill checks can be made un-trained for this system, regardless of the rules. Depending it just may alter the information given, the target number to succeed, or the actual bonus given to the check.

Safety

How Stephan Wood creates a safe table

At any time, my players are more than welcome to DM me privately with questions or concerns. I make sure to cover any potential triggers in Session 0, as well as have a 0-tolerance policy towards harassment. After every session, I will pause a moment to make sure everyone is alright with going forward, and see if there are any questions, comments, or concerns. Those will be addressed, no matter how long after the session it takes. These services and time spent after the session do not cost extra in any form, regardless of how long it takes to ensure the mental and emotional health of my players is secured.
